What will you do in this job?:
Assists with managing the daily maintenance, landscaping and repair of Lodge property and equipment while maintain a safe environment for guests and employees. Reports to the Maintenance Manager the overall energy efficient operation of all Lodge equipment and ensure proper preventative maintenance of Lodge property.
- Provides guidance and tools to encourage staff’s engagement, successfulness and effectiveness. Actively supervises a diverse staff responsible for maintenance, landscaping and janitorial
- Responsible for developing, maintaining and implementing training for safety standards
- Perform standard daily lodge usage and safety checks
- Respond to or delegate maintenance requests in a timely manner
- Communicate daily with front desk and respond to immediate needs
- Follow all safety guidelines and precautions, including use of all tools and equipment and chemicals
- Oversee and manage the maintenance of grounds and landscaping, following the Lodge standards
- Continually evaluate and initiate improvements to procedures and processes that increase efficiency and save man-hours
- Ability to work independently, in a team environment and with minimal supervision
- Ability to make decisions, solve problems and exercise good judgment; ability to work under pressure and prioritize workload
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to be empathetic with respect to guests’ and staffs’ needs and problems
- Ability to work closely with all levels of the Alaska Collection staff and management and the general public, including professionals and executives from a variety of companies
- Ability to follow complex oral and written instructions
- Working knowledge of maintenance and safety standards and requirements in the hotel industry
- Must be able to push, pull, carry and lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular basis, and greater weights on an occasional basiC
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Training in general mechanical, boiler maintenance, plumbing, construction and electrical maintenance preferred
- 5 years experience on building maintenance
- 2 years supervisory experience; or any combination of training and experience that provides the necessary skills, knowledge and abilities
- Must be 21 years of age
- Must have a valid US Driver’s License with clean driving record
