Position Title: Assistant Port Engineer
Reports To: Coastal Technical Management Team
Schedule: Monday – Friday and weekends as responsibilities necessitate
Location: Tampa, FL with limited travel
Position(s) supervised: Vessel Engineers

Required Qualifications:
Education: High School Diploma
Experience: 3-years sailing experience in engineering capacity
Languages: English
Skills/Software: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word)

Preferred Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree (strongly prefer Maritime Academy graduate)
Experience: 2 years in Port Engineering capacity, Tank barge & Tug experience.
Skills/Software: ABS, Nautical Systems Enterprise
Licenses/Certifications: DDE 4000 or higher license
Traits: Experience with propulsion and auxiliary shipboard systems, Towing vessel operations

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Carries out directives of Senior Port Engineer and Technical Management team for all technical aspects of assigned Towing vessels.
  • Planning and organization of maintenance tasks locally and remote.
  • Support vessel crew with maintenance and repair requirements.
  • Attend Dry dockings and Major repair projects
  • Carrying out modification work on individual vessels to ensure safe/working condition of hull, equipment, and machinery.
  • Reporting on activities and time/cost requirements for maintenance and repair tasks to Technical Management team.
  • Monitoring planned, preventive, and repair maintenance activities by crew through computerized planned maintenance system – NS Enterprise.
  • Coordination and supervising of approved contractors’ work on vessels.
  • Planning, scheduling, and supervising all Class and flag state periodical inspections and surveys as required to maintain class and regulatory documentation.
  • Maintain condition of shore facilities; emergency generator, workshop, warehouses, ETC.
  • Supervision and monitoring shore base spares, stores, and consumables.
  • Maintenance of technical documentation.
  • Management inspection of vessels in assigned intervals.
