The Department of Professional Leadership at Converse University seeks a tenure-track Assistant Professor with expertise and experience in teaching leadership courses at the graduate level. The new faculty member must be committed to developing leaders in a variety of professional fields and providing teaching, research, and service at a high level. The new faculty member must show evidence of their ability to work in a multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary environment and build on the synergy within the department with department, school, and university. The new faulty member should be able to collaborate with faculty members across campus in a variety of other disciplines.

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The assistant professor of leadership is a tenure track position. The assistant professor of leadership will teach four classes in the fall and four in the spring. Opportunities for teaching summer courses also exist but are not required. This position is assigned to the Professional Leadership Department and will teach, advise, and chair/serve on dissertation committees for EdD students. In addition, as assigned within teaching responsibilities, this position will teach in the Masters in Management Leadership Program.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/ NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The assistant professor of leadership will teach four classes in the fall and four in the spring. In addition, this position will include chairing and serving on dissertation committees. The assistant professor will participate in faculty and departmental meetings, such as accreditation and program orientation meetings. The assistant professor will teach in both Greenville and Spartanburg and will be assigned an office in Greenville, and one in Spartanburg as space allows. The assistant professor will serve on at least one campus faculty committee after the first year. The assistant professor will also perform other duties as assigned by the Chair of the Department of Leadership Studies. The assistant professor is evaluated by the Chair of the Department of Leadership Studies.

Minimum qualifications:

Terminal degree in Educational Leadership, Organizational Leadership, Organizational Management, or related area.

Preferred Qualifications:

The preferred candidate will possess a terminal degree in leadership or related area, experience teaching in doctoral programs, experience serving on dissertation committees, and experience as a dissertation committee chair.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS:

Must be willing and able to work at both Converse locations: Spartanburg (main campus) and Greenville (UCG), and serve on and chair multiple dissertation committees each year of employment.
