Assistant Superintendent Job Description

Port Huron Golf Club is seeking an Assistant Golf Course Superintendent. The position will report directly to the Golf Course Superintendent and requires managing all aspects of the golf course. Qualified candidates will possess qualifications not limited to fertilizer and chemical application, irrigation maintenance and repair, water management, work-force scheduling, personnel management, and daily operations that maintain a safe and positive work environment.

Candidates will also be proficient at learning new tasks and processes, maintain focus, complete tasks independently, make timely decisions, and communicate with club members.

Requirements

• Applicant must be able to maintain a Michigan Pesticide License
• Possess a valid driver’s license.
• Ability to inspect sites to detect safety concerns
• Must be able to apply established protocols in a timely manner
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds

Skills

• Properly apply fertilizer, chemical, seed, and pesticides
• Manage the application of irrigation to turfgrass and clubhouse grounds
• Maintain records of fertilizer and chemical application
• Identify pest populations and communicate threat level
• Daily scouting for irrigation abnormality and repair
• Ability to supervise, train, and work well with peers

(Colt & Alison-1910) In recent years the green complexes were restored to USGA specs, by Old Course Design, David P. Savic. Located along the sand dunes of Lake Huron, the golf course meanders among old oak trees and waste sand bunkers.
