UCF Advancement is the division made up by Development, Administration and Alumni Engagement and Annual Giving and supports the UCF Foundation, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization created to assist donors wishing to offer private support to deliver resources beyond traditional funding sources, such as tuition, state support and government research grants. The Opportunity:
The Assistant Vice President leads the development and execution of the Advancement Marketing and Communications program, ensuring that the Advancement brand identity is consistent with the UCF brand and that there is a strategic and results-driven approach to communications with alumni, donors, prospects, and community members. This position will play a critical role in the communications, marketing, and branding strategies for UCF's next comprehensive campaign.
Responsibilities:
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive communications and marketing plan that supports the organization's strategic goals and campaign aspirations and reaches a diverse constituent base across all media including but not limited to publications, video, web, digital, and social media.
  • Serve as Advancement's Chief Communications Officer with key partners including the Office of the President, UCF's central marketing team, the UCF Foundation Board of Directors, the UCF Alumni Board, the UCF Board of Trustees, and colleagues across advancement. Serve as the marketing and communications advisor to the Senior Vice President for Advancement and Partnerships and CEO of the UCF Foundation, Inc., UCF's president, UCF's central communications and marketing team, and other institutional leaders regarding communication strategies and responses to breaking news, reputational impacts, major decisions, and events that intersect with UCF Advancement and Foundation priorities.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for media issues related to philanthropy and alumni relations.
  • Develop and continually manage a system to measure the effectiveness of marketing and communication-related initiatives.
  • Build and maintain collaborative and effective working relationships internally and externally with academic deans and department leaders, faculty, UCF athletics, administrative leaders, media, and the Florida business and national nonprofit sector in ways that help coordinate advancement marketing and communication efforts across all areas of UCF and in external relationships important to constituent engagement and philanthropy.
  • Oversee the visual identity and branding of Advancement in keeping with the UCF brand. Develop, disseminate, and evaluate key messages for print and digital materials, briefing materials for Advancement staff and volunteer leaders (internal and external) ensuring that messages and materials are linked to a common and agreed upon set of core goals.
  • Lead and mentor staff, providing strategic leadership and vision in directing the activities of the communications teams for Advancement, ensuring a culture and practice of shared resources in stewardship, creative services, digital strategy and publications development and dissemination.
  • Review and make recommendations to Advancement leadership on partnerships and sponsorships in support of organization goals and review all contracts with external vendors in design, printing, and creative.
  • Develop and lead creative campaigns and manage selected university-wide and college/unit-specific projects as needed and appropriate.
  • Oversee the department's budget and ensure that resources are linked to priorities.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree and 10+ years relevant experience with at least 5+ years of leadership experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Communications and marketing experience in a higher education or nonprofit environment.
  • Experience leading communications and branding efforts for a comprehensive fundraising campaign.
