WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

Communication Coordinator

The Communication Coordinator will join the Santander US Communications team reporting to the Chief Communications Officer in a role that supports this high-functioning, fast-paced team working in a rapidly evolving business environment. The person in this role will coordinate calendars, meetings, logistics and travel for Communications, participate in key strategy sessions and provide summaries and provide day to day communications support that advances collaboration and alignment for the Communications function to benefit the Company overall. This role affords an ambitious self-starter an opportunity to learn about multiple facets of client-side corporate communications and make a significant impact by helping to organize a busy and thriving team working hard every day to advance Santander’s business goals in the US.

This is a high visibility role for which the right candidate brings 2-3 years’ experience in either a communications agency or on the client side in a comparable role. He/she must be well organized, tactful, persistent, and confident as they will be interacting with a wide variety of Santander associates and leaders.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Accountable for the day-to-day project management of key internal and external Communications activities
  • Department-wide operations, vendor management, measurement reporting and budgetary support
  • Executive leadership and US-wide communications planning and calendar creation/management
  • Communications scorecard/KPI measurement and reporting
  • Overflow communications work, with a focus on leadership writing, social media posting and creative design
  • Ownership of key meetings, including content agenda, cross-function coordination, and online tech support
  • Ad-hoc communications projects under the direction of the CCO

Qualifications - External

  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or equivalent field.
  • 2-3 years of communications and PR experience. Some agency experience preferred.
  • Banking and/or broader Financial Services a plus.
  • Experienced self-starter who can manage projects independently, strong sense of prioritization in fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to assess when to escalate and when to solve.
  • Executive presence, show grace under pressure and an overall professional demeanor.
  • Acute attention to detail. Strong writing and copywriting skills.
  • Maintains high standards in every aspect of the work and continually raises the bar.
  • Intellectually curious, embracing challenges and tackling problems with a solutions mindset.
  • Ability to work within the regulatory implications of financial services industry (or, other highly regulated industry).
