Job Summary
Responsible for the Purchasing, Production Planning/Inventory Control, Warehouse functions and SAP function for EWM, MM, and PP modules. This includes the proper operation, analysis, and interpretation within an SAP ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) environment, setting policy on inventory levels, determining relative levels of raw material and work-in-process. Manages the outlay of financial resources for the purchase of all raw materials and supplies and the efficient transportation of intra-company goods associated with the plant.
Responsibilities
  • Responsible for directing all aspects of SAP, relating to the MM (Materials Management), PP (Production Planning), and EWM (Warehouse Management) modules at the site level, and acts as a SAP SME (Subject Matter Expert) resource for the site.
  • Responsible for the material forecast and supplier performance and providing consolidated forecast to controlling in support of budgeting processes.
  • Working collaboratively with Regional and Global Procurement teams to ensure strategic supplier initiatives are achieved. Maintains adequate knowledge of all Supply Chain planning process and supporting tools used at the site.
  • Develops, establishes reporting systems that relate to the materials functions.
  • Responsible for preparing site budgeting activities with respect to procurement of all direct materials and managing spend according to budgets.
  • Establishes effective materials management procedures for the site that are in compliance with Regional and Global Policies, Procedures and Guidelines, regulatory requirements and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) in the performance of day-to-day activities and all applicable job functions.
  • Ensures that the Company standard practices and procedures are followed in connection with all Materials Department functions.
  • Establishes goals and objectives that align with strategic direction of the site and ensure performance of each reporting function.
  • Responsible for the motivation and development of subordinates to optimize their performance and their personal and professional growth. Develops staff through orientation, training, establishing goals and objectives and standards of performance. Provides a working environment which is safe, motivational, consistent, and conducive to creativity. Provides appropriate recognition of contribution and performance.
  • Directs the activities of the purchasing area to include searching and presenting alternate and lower cost suppliers for major purchased items, maintaining an effective rapport with all suppliers for the purpose of negotiating, expediting, and disposing of non-acceptable goods.
  • Directs the activities of the production planning and inventory control area to include developing a master manufacturing schedule which effectively utilizes the plant’s capacity; providing a projected schedule which will maintain a level of finished goods in sufficient volume to minimize service problems and, at the same time, minimize investment; and maintaining an adequate supply of raw materials to support the schedule.
  • Responsible for continuing programs of exploration for new materials, suppliers and processes to achieve the best possible quality, reliability, prices, continuity, and delivery.
  • Responsible for the oversight of all raw materials, programs and initiating and dispositioning the resulting obsolescence.
  • Oversees and ensures proper production control planning and scheduling programs for the Filling and Packaging schedules to meet sales forecasts and to balance the level of manpower and machine requirements. Makes certain that deviations to the production schedule are investigated and properly followed up.
  • Manages the activities of the warehouse to include ensuring accurate inventory records, maintaining an adequate level of raw materials, and controlling the storage and movement of raw materials in an efficient manner consistent with cGMP.
  • Reviews operating methodology and coordinates necessary improvements by automation/computerization for improving data collection and reports and ensures such reports indicate the status of all materials activities.
  • Established and maintains purchasing practices and policies to ensure honest, fair and ethical relationships with our vendors. Keeps informed on legal matters, which affect purchasing policies and Sarbanes Oxley requirements.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or a related field. MBA preferred.
  • 8+ years experience in all areas of materials in a management role preferred.
  • Must have thorough knowledge of SAP ERP, but more specifically the MM, PP, and EWM modules. Prefer implementation experience.
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of purchasing, production planning, inventory control, and distribution techniques and theory.
  • Prefer a background in the pharmaceutical industry, or work in a regulated environment. • Life sciences experience required good knowledge of cGMP and experience of working with Supply Chain, Quality, Regulatory and Technical Operations.
  • Demonstrated competency in supplier management and contract negotiations
  • Strong leadership, team building, organizational and interpersonal skills. Strong analytical competency.
  • Highly effective oral and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and across multiple departments and organization levels.
  • Ability to think strategically, to communicate well, build relationships, and foster teamwork.
