ABOUT THE ROLE:

Ajinomoto is seeking a friendly, enthusiastic, and detail oriented Automation Specialist. The Automation Specialist will be responsible for assisting in the development, implementation, and maintenance of Automated Control Systems. Assist Production and Production Support staff in troubleshooting Automated Systems such as, DCS, PLC, HMI, and Instrumented Control.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide support in automation to our Production and Production Support staff
• Troubleshoot Automated Control Systems Communication Networks, I/O Systems, Computer Based HMI (Human Machine Interface) including MS Windows 10/Server 2012 & Higher OS, Wonderware, etc.
• Provide start-up support for new projects, Electrical/Instrumentation and Automation, read electrical drawings, instrumentation documentation, spec-sheets, loop drawings, connection drawings, PLC/DCS I/O Hardware Documentation, including power, and control drawings
• Assist electrical and mechanical contractors with installing instruments, including connecting the control and power wiring, commission new instruments, and verifying configuration and calibration
• Assist and mentor E&I Technicians with troubleshooting of our automated systems

WORKING CONDITIONS: This position may perform activities in an environment that contains hazardous elements and requires safety awareness and adherence to all safety policies and guidelines. Work must be performed in a safe manner for personal protection and for the protection of other team members. All safety procedures, procedures described in SOPs, BPRs, and support the compliance of applicable ISO standards in all functional areas must be followed, enforced, and strictly complied with.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Position requires the ability to sit for a minimum of 6 hours per day; stand, walk, bend over, and reach above head less than an hour a day; lifting or carrying up to a minimum of 50 pounds occasionally and repetitive use of hands/arms for writing and computer work. Position requires the ability to climb ladders and be at high levels.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION: A successful candidate will have an Associates degree with 2-4 years’ experience in troubleshooting and maintaining Automation and Control Systems. Experience with ISA S88 Batch Standards and GMP/CGMP regulations, in a Pharmaceutical Industry preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to work independently with little to no direction and take initiative within scope of work responsibilities. Ability to demonstrate effective written and oral communication skills. Demonstratable technical proficiency with strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks. Working knowledge of Rockwell Automation’s PLC/HMI systems, and Yokogawa or other DCS systems.
