Job Description
This is a part-time position in the Engineering Department of the City of Bartlett. This person will administer the Backflow Device Program in compliance with national plumbing code and TDEC backflow regulations. Will be responsible for developing, updating and maintain records and description of every backflow device in the City's water system. Will ensure certified testing has good standing and equipment is certified and calibrated in accordance with TDEC regulations and contractors. Will track new installations and record approval of devices by Code Enforcement prior to businesses opening or after the final code inspections are complete. Will attend and testify in court for non-compliance if necessary; must learn MAGNET to record inspections and violations. Will be required to answer phone calls, take messages, route requests for assistance and provide information to the public as needed. Must be able to communicate with other employees, the public and walk-in customers in a polite and professional manner. Must maintain database and records for review by Tennessee Department of Environmental Conservation (TDEC). Work will include office work and some outdoor work. Must be proficient in MS Word, Excel and Outlook. Successful candidate will have excellent verbal and written communication skills allowing for good service to our citizens while also complying with the TN Department of Environment and Conservation. A basic understanding of plumbing and backflow prevention devices helpful.
Must be a high school graduate or equivalent. Must have a current TN driver's license, which is to remain valid as a condition of continued employment. Must pass background and driver"s license check, physical examination including drug screen. Bartlett resident preferred but not required.
