In-School Behavioral Coaches provide much needed assistance to teachers by working with clients within the classroom setting as well as removing disruptive students from the classroom and working with them one-on-one to modify behavior before returning them to class with a more productive outlook. These highly-trained professionals provide a service to teachers and students alike.

The Behavioral Health Technician/In-school Behavioral Coach meets the needs of our client population children, adults, individuals who have substance abuse problems, individuals who are seriously mentally ill, and/or individuals who have co-occurring disorders. This position is responsible to provide treatment that promotes client dignity, independence, individuality, strengths, privacy and choice while respecting cultural differences and demonstrating ethical behaviors. The Behavioral Health Technician assists adults and others with illness understanding and self-management, while providing any necessary monitoring and follow up to determine if the services accessed have adequately met the individual’s needs.

Essential Functions and Duties include:

• Provides emotional support and active listening and monitors for any sign of escalating behaviors.
• The focus is on present-day challenges more than past experiences.
• Coaches work with clients on identifying the behavioral patterns they want to change. Goal setting and clear action plans combine to result in positive changes.
• Models appropriate communication and leadership skills
• To promote a healthy lifestyle and teach healthy habits to the clients
• Adhere to a consensus model, where every member has a say in the structure of the group
• Maintain confidentiality and respect the individual needs of each client
• Limit self-disclosure to information that is of clear benefit to the client
• Address any crisis individually while maintaining appropriate boundaries
• Direct members to the PHCC office for referrals to individual therapists when necessary
• Maintain contact with the Clinical Director regarding the status of the client, including any change in schedule or client attendance, and for upcoming scheduled meeting dates or times with the school, cancelled meetings, and any other issues pertaining to the client and his In-School Behavioral Modification Program.
• Conduct orientation and complete an intake for new members as they come into the program.
• Complete intakes and assessments and ensures that all documentation is current and up to date.
• Submits daily progress notes at the PHCC office within 24 hours of date of service.
• Other Duties as assigned.
  

Qualifications:

• Bachelors Degree in Behavioral Health or related field or five year’s experience working in Behavioral Health.
• Knowledge and understanding of Behavioral Health issues
• Thorough understanding of de-escalation techniques
• Excellent therapeutic and personal boundaries and ethics
• Ability to perform crisis intervention
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Complete all necessary paperwork (monthly reports, progress notes, timesheets, orientation paperwork and intake paperwork.
• Participate in clinical oversight provided by PHCC licensed supervisory
• Participate in bi-monthly trainings at PHCC main office
• Current CPR/First Aid card -Must be renewed upon expiration
• Valid State of Arizona Department of Public Safety Fingerprint Clearance Card
• A Negative Tuberculosis Test – Must be renewed every twelve months.
