Pine Belt Mental Healthcare Resources is actively seeking to fill a Behavioral Health Technician position at WestWay Behavioral Healthcare in Laurel, MS. The Behavioral Health Technician will work under the general supervision of a registered nurse while assisting individuals according to treatment plans. This position has a significant role in direct care of individuals and is a fundamental element in providing a safe and therapeutic environment. Current openings are for 3p-11p and 11p-7a.
Crisis Residential Services are time-limited residential treatment services provided in a crisis residential unit which provides psychiatric supervision, nursing services, structured therapeutic activities and intensive psychotherapy to people who are experiencing a period of acute psychiatric distress which severely impairs their ability to cope with normal life circumstances. These services are designed to prevent civil commitment and/or longer term inpatient hospitalization by addressing the acute symptoms, distress, and further decomposition.

Through an extensive continuum of care, we strive to enable adults with serious mental illnesses, children with serious emotional disturbances, and individuals with an addiction or developmental disability to live, work, learn, and participate fully in their communities. Our thirteen county service area includes Forrest, Hancock, Harrison, Jones, Lamar, Covington, Greene, Jeff Davis, Marion, Pearl River, Perry, Stone and Wayne Counties.

- Bachelor's degree in behavioral healthcare preferred
- Valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record required
- Demonstrates good interpersonal skills necessary to deal tactfully and effectively with people in crisis situations
- Demonstrates ability to accept direction and responsibility for the care of consumers under treatment for psychiatric disorders
- Accepts emergency/crisis calls. Responds to front-line first responder needs via telephone.
- Triages calls according to intensity, service needs, critical timing, and assignment of staff.
- Assists residents in all areas of physical care and hygiene of patients.
- Documents client behaviors observed during shift and charts into Electronic Medical Records.
- Participates in activities for clients.
- Prepares, gives, and participates in instructional training.
