Sarasota County Public Utilities services more than 97,500 water connections, 85,000 sewer connections and 4,000 reuse connections. As the Billing Specialist you will be responsible for monthly billing of all customers and franchises, adjustments, audits, work order generation/handling, and complex report tracking/generation at the utility service office in Venice, Florida. Job Description:
- Process utility payments, issue payment receipts, and provide over-the-counter county water and wastewater account management and cashier lobby services in person with customers at the utility service office in Venice, Florida.
- Prepare and balance daily deposit for cashier station.
- Prepare daily production tally for utility service office in Venice, Florida.
- Research payment postings.
- Reviewing of daily system-generated reports. Customer contact on detailed billing issues.
- Quarterly and annual cash drawer reconciliation reporting.
- Ability to generate reports utilizing current report writing software.
- Back-up for preparing billing adjustment packets for processing by the billing department, back-up utility service center processing online application forms and responding to email message inquiries, and assist with utility connection process (i.e., meter set work orders).
Work Hours
Monday - Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
About You
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associates degree from an accredited college/university in Accounting or Finance plus two (2) years experience in auditing procedures, inventory control, basic real estate, or bookkeeping / financial duties.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or in a highly related area may substitute for the required experience.
- Year-for-year basis may substitute for the college degree.
Preferred Qualification: English/Spanish interpretation/translation is a preferred skill and/or experience.
