The State of New Hampshire,NH Fish and Game Department has a full time seasonal vacancy for Biological Aide and anticipated start date of 05/19/2023

SUMMARY: Assists in restoration of Karner blue butterfly, frosted elfin, and other lepidoptera associated with pine barrens habitat. Activities include assisting in captive rearing efforts, conducting habitat management activities, monitoring invertebrate species in both a lab setting and the wild, collecting and maintaining data and maintaining equipment necessary to conduct restoration efforts. April – Septmber .

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Assists with captive rearing of Karner blue butterfly, frosted elfin butterflies, and other invertebrates in a controlled lab environment.

Monitors Karner blue butterfly, frosted elfin, and other pine barrens lepidoptera in the wild.

Conducts habitat management activities such as planting lupine, as directed by supervisor.

Collects and maintains data, assists in preparing written reports.

Maintains tools and facilities associated with the projects.

Assists with other projects as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Completion of high school, G.E.D. or its equivalent. Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.

Experience: Three years’ experience in fisheries or wildlife conservation, commercial fishing, landscaping, carpentry, agriculture, outdoor recreation, or park management, including experience in operating or maintaining equipment.

License/Certification : Valid Driver’s License required. Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) must meet the minimum standards as established by the agency.
