Continental Manufacturing Chemist (CMC) is looking for a Blending Operator (also called "Compounder" or "Mixer" on-site) to join our team in our Huxley, IA location! This position will be on our day/1st shift - Monday through Friday, roughly 6:30AM to 3:00AM (x5 8-hour shifts per week). No weekends!

Blending Operators are responsible for staging, weighing, adding, and mixing raw materials as directed by assigned batching instructions to produce a wide variety of products. It requires high attention to detail, accurate documentation, and command
of basic math, Proportions and percentages.

Maintaining some flexibility to work over-time and/or slightly adjusted shifts to meet production demand is critical. Compounders may assist in our Madrid, IA location on an as-needed basis.

Blending Operator Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Thorough completion of batch-related documentation, from when the batch enters the Compounding department through when it leaves the Compounding department
  • Proper organization of batch-related documentation
  • Assisting in the development of new product compounding procedures and improving compounding processes of existing products
  • Weighing and pouring ingredients according to batch order measurements and sequencing
  • Working together with other departments to achieve production goals
  • Understanding and supporting the production schedule by prioritizing creating certain batches of production and multi-tasking to create multiple different batches of product when needed
  • Once trained, operating equipment to blend batches of product (per batch order instructions)
  • Inspecting and performing preventative maintenance on all compounding equipment
  • Maintaining a high level of cleanliness on all compounding related equipment and facilities
  • Ensuring accurate tracking of inventory by assuming accountability of raw materials
  • Meeting batch time standards while maintaining safety and quality
  • Following all company policies and procedures to ensure that a quality product is produced
  • Participating in cGMP, quality, safety, and SOP training - complies with all company safety and risk management policies and procedures
  • Adheres to all applicable OSHA and related local safety requirements to all assigned work
  • Other duties/projects as assigned

Blending Operator Education and/or Experience:

  • Required: High School Diploma/GED/equivalent experience
  • Required: Forklift experience AND/OR the ability to receive certification within 60 days of hire
  • Required: Some experience in compounding/blending/mixing in a manufacturing, production, agricultural, or construction setting
  • Preferred: Associates and/or B.S. in chemistry, biology, or related field

Other Qualifications/Requirements for the Blending Operator role:

  • Multi-tasking, problem solving, and maintaining flexibility under pressure and production demands to ensure safe, timely, and accurate completion of projects
  • Performance of basic math (such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division)
  • Strong attention to detail; maintaining accuracy while handling raw materials, produced materials, and documentation
  • Good written and verbal communication skills to facilitate accurate documentation and efficient teamwork for project completion
  • Mechanical aptitude (to operate and adjust equipment once trained)

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequently: Walking, standing, bending, kneeling, twisting, climbing stair or ladders, lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling up to 50 to 60lbs with mechanical/team assistance, some exposure to dust/fumes/or chemicals in a manufacturing environment (appropriate PPE is provided).
  • Constantly: Simple hand grasping, use of special visual or auditory protective equipment (PPE).
