Job Description

The Block Tender role is a vital component to ensuring we meet our customers building needs in the industrial, commercial, and residential markets. As a block tender you will receive hands on technical training on multiple mechanical, electrical, and welding skills. Your duties consist of monitoring the operation of the block manufacturing machine, moving block along the conveyor rollers, and organizing them into a consistent pattern for safe and efficient delivery. Other duties include shoveling & sweeping block debris, assisting in machine adjustments, and daily repairing/cleaning of block equipment to ensure a clean and safe work environment.

BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in monitoring the operation of concrete block manufacturing machines.
  • Removing and installing molds for the block machine.
  • Ability to maintain and enforce a safe working environment.
  • Shovel, sweep, and other housekeeping duties to ensure a clean working environment.
  • Perform minor repairs to various machines (operator, cuber, etc.)
  • Ability to lift 50lb concrete blocks on an as needed basis.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude desired.
  • Ability to climb conveyors and vertical ladders as needed.
  • Ability to communicate both verbal & written and understand direction.
  • Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time.
  • Two-handed dexterity needed for the use of tools and equipment.
  • Electrical, welding, fabricating, and fork lift experience is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned by management.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Be able to read, write, and speak English
  • High School diploma, preferred
  • Bilingual a plus
  • Must be capable of bending, squatting, stooping, sweeping, and shoveling

Physical Requirements and Environmental Demands:

  • Requires walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing to a significant degree
  • Exerting 25 – 50 pounds of force frequently
  • Exerting 10 – 20 pounds of force frequently
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, in order to communicate to employees/visitors as well as function safely around heavy equipment
  • Must be able to perform all job functions which include, but may not be limited to, pushing, turning, and/or pulling of controls

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $20.20 per hour
