Position Description

The Superintendent position is an integral part of the BLUROC, LLC field team and will be accountable for the overall performance of multiple crews under their jurisdiction, both week-to-week and at the end of the project. They will be evaluated both on financial performance of their projects as well as customer satisfaction with the work being done. This position will work closely with BLUROC, LLC Foreman and Regional Directors. The Superintendents will also ensure Foreman are able to properly staff their jobs with equipment as well as personnel

Responsibilities

· Responsible for 2-5 foreman which includes scheduling, coordinating, and managing their daily construction activities

· Responsible for project profitability; inspect project sites on a weekly/bi- weekly basis and work with Foremen to ensure all projects are running smoothly

· Will be required to travel frequently and often to projects which are often in remote locations

· Responsible for ensuring purchases for projects are made within purchase order expectations

· Required to keep all necessary records through close of project and turn over to Regional Director for archiving

· Coordinates with foremen to determine the most effective labor planning for the project that will help drive labor efficiency to ensure we remain within budget

· Responsible for foreman performance expectations and development, i.e., as performance improvement plans / timelines, conflict resolution

· Work with Regional Directors to identity next generation of leadership

· Reviews Foreman recommendations to ensure compliance with labor laws, responsible for calls to union BAs to inform them proactively of personnel changes

· Accountable for accurate daily entry of data (e.g., individual employee time entry) across responsible projects, proficient with B2W Track

· Consult with client site supervisor and Project Manager on plan revisions and change orders; writes up change orders for approval; provides necessary data for accurate billing

· Develop punch-list for each project and communicate closeout schedule to Project Manager; responsible for resource management to achieve customer-required schedules while reducing / eliminating project overruns

· Shooting grades, cuts and fills, laying pipe, trenching OQs / competent person, culverts, bridges

· Ensure that projects are built to requirements and specifications established by construction drawings, building codes, and client expectations; explain quality control standards and supervise their implementation

· Accountable for overall performance of equipment budgets compared to actuals

· Assist Foreman with the ordering, coordination and on-time delivery of materials and supplies

· Notify subcontractors in advance to assure on schedule arrival; communicate company’s quality and performance standards to each subcontractor and supplier

· Responsible for setting up logistics ahead of time in order to meet job schedules

· Responsible for knowing and communicating environmental regulations and requirements to all working crews

· Accountable for JSA quality, discipline and compliance, defines field safety needs with safety department; explain and ensure compliance of safety program to all site personnel

· Accountable for efficient deployment of matting resources across jobs under management; responsible for assisting with mat deliveries according to pre-agreed schedules

· Begins estimating work, under supervision of Regional Director and/or estimating department Work with Regional Directors to identity next generation of leadership

· Accountable for adherence to contract terms for the project

· Communicate with customer on-site supervisors; answer their questions and ensure that construction meets their expectations; conduct pre-closing walk-throughs with client; represent BLUROC in interactions with customer leadership and any public / external interaction

· Keep Project Manager informed of project progress' escalate issues as needed; ensure project submittals are turned-in each week to Project Manager

· Participate in bid reviews per Regional Director guideline

Position Requirement

· Attention to detail and strong organizational skills

· Ability to read and understand environmental maps and P&P drawings

· Experience in civil construction or utility work estimating (electrical transmission & pipeline)

· Strong analytical ability and effective written and verbal communication skills

· Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or comparable degree preferred but not required
