JOB SUMMARY
ONEOK is looking for a Buyer III for the front end of project purchasing. This role will work with the business stakeholders and cross functional teams to develop aligned sourcing strategies which may include the development of request for proposals (RFP), use of eSourcing tools, bid evaluations, supplier evaluation, development strategies, negotiation skills, supplier selection, and contracting. Additionally, this individual will manage the RFP process from development, analysis, and award; including the development of maintaining RFP templates. This individual will be responsible for leveraging market intelligence in development of strategies and/or supplier negotiations and will need to be able to understand & articulate the total value of a sourcing strategy. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who will proactively seek business optimization and cost saving and can build data-driven business cases to support their initiatives to project and operations leaders. Strong communication skills and ability to develop and maintain sustainable relationships & partnerships is preferred. This position is hybrid.
Job Profile Summary

Procures and expedites materials, supplies, and equipment.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Negotiate and initiate purchase contracts of materials, supplies, and equipment; coordinate purchase and delivery to meet required schedules
  • Arrange for fabrication of special equipment such as orifice meter tubes and orifice fittings by subcontractors. Review plans and ensure compliance with company schedules and specifications
  • Analyze and forecast company material requirements; study fluctuations in inventory by use patterns and seasonal adjustments to maintain minimum inventory investment; and monitor marketing and/or pricing trends to correlate with forecasted needs
  • Prepare and update policies and procedures for company purchasing manual; communicate information or instructions regarding policies and procedures to vendors, manufacturers, fabricators, and other company employees
  • Calculate, analyze, verify, and maintain items including but not limited to:
    • Material requests
    • Specifications
    • Quotes
    • Freight bills
    • Invoices
    • Material failure reports
    • Dimensions
    • Tolerances
    • Volumes and weights
Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in business administration or related field or an equivalent combination of formal education and the following job related knowledge or experience
Work Experience
  • Experience with and knowledge of purchasing policies and procedures
  • Experience in use and function of office equipment applicable to position including microcomputers and applicable software
  • Experience and training including, but not limited to:
    • Storeroom operations
    • Purchasing functions
    • Materials Management Information System (MMIS)
    • Communications/interpersonal skills
  • Experience reading and interpreting manuals, catalogues, contracts, warranty agreements, specifications, forms, reports, material requests, and correspondence.
  • Experience composing and preparing purchase contracts, reports, quote inquiries, forms, and correspondence
  • Experience developing information and making presentations to groups and individuals
  • Experience interacting, negotiating, assisting, and communicating effectively
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of: various materials, supplies, and equipment procured through company purchasing functions

  • Ability to: apply math and algebraic formulas

  • Ability to: supervise, lead, or delegate work assignments
