Summary of Position

Operates Computer Aided Design (CAD) computer system, including creating, updating and modifying maps; and performs manual drafting.

Organizational Relationships

1. Reports to: Head of Engineering

2. Directs: This is a nonsupervisory position.

3. Other: Works closely with department team members, contractors, and project management.

Essential Duties

• Creates CAD drawings for engineering projects.

• Creates and modifies maps for special assignments.

• Copies project drawings.

• Creates manual drawings for engineering projects.

• Performs other related duties, as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of: CAD and manual drafting principles, practices, methods and techniques and general civil engineering principles.

Skill/Ability to: demonstrate proficiency in both oral and written communication; read and interpret construction drawings and maps; prepare accurate detailed drawings from data supplied by field surveys; operate computer using standard drafting software packages, plotters; develop CAD and manual drawings for engineering projects; maintain complete, readily accessible files and records of survey office reports; and establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and outside survey and drafting supply vendors.

Acceptable Experience and Training

Associate degree or completion of a technical trade school in CAD, drafting or related field, plus at least three years of related work experience; or any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

Pay: $14.00 - $26.00 per hour
