***Looking for "mothers hours" or per diem work? We have flexible hours available 1-5 days a week, from 8 or 9 AM to 1 or 2 PM Monday through Friday.***

Harbor Health is always seeking Per Diem (on call as needed) Call Center Agents to join our Per Diem Pool at our Call Center in Dorchester with opportunities for permanent part or full time hours.

Hours include Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday starting at 7:00 or 8:00 AM. Positions are on site at the Geiger Gibson Community Health Center in Dorchester.

The Call Center Agent ensures patient access to the practice by answering, screening and processing a high volume of incoming calls to the call center. Duties include but are not limited to: registering new patients; verifying scheduled appointments; verifying patient insurance information; scheduling follow up appointments; obtaining information from patient requests about referrals, prescription refills, and requests for lab results; and transferring calls to the appropriate person or department. Other duties include but are not limited to timely and accurate data entry of patient demographics and insurance information.

Job Duties:

  • Promptly answers, screens, and processes high volume telephone inquiries with strict adherence to confidentiality agreements and policies and procedures in a professional manner
  • Manages the pre-registration process, ensuring that all data fields are appropriately and accurately completed
  • Utilizes centralized scheduling system and software applications to schedule appointments
  • Utilizes the HHSI resource Compass, to access work-related information, protocols and trainings needed to perform the job
  • Sends patient communications to the Clinical Team through the EMR on the patient’s behalf
  • Understands when to escalate calls to the appropriate staff or Call Center Manager
  • During emergency operations may be required to report to work or remain at work

Required/Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:

  • High school diploma/GED
  • 1 year of experience in a community health center and/or a professional or business environment
  • Excellent customer service, verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently
  • Computer literate
  • Basic competency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Bilingual; English/Spanish, English/Vietnamese or English/Portuguese preferred
  • Medical terminology preferred
  • Ability to work rotating shifts (am, pm, weekends, holidays and overtime)
