Position Summary
The Volunteer Campground Host will serve as a liaison between campers in our RV and camping spaces; the maintenance staff, Fairgrounds office staff and county staff. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The following examples of duties and accountabilities illustrate the general range of tasks assigned to the position but are not intended to define the limits of required duties. Other essential duties may be assigned consistent with the general scope of the position. Employee must comply with all County and department policies, procedures, WAC"s, or other regulatory bodies.

Greet and assist visitors, answer questions and explain regulations which apply. Distribute maps, copies of park rules and regulations, and brochures about State Parks. May assist campers in locating a campsite, be familiar with local points of interest and the location of services that might be requested by campers such as towing, groceries, churches, tourist attractions and local events. Will perform light maintenance work around the campground such as litter pickup, sweeping and stocking of restrooms, provide information to Fairgrounds staff on potential problems, and disseminate information to campers.
Clean campsites by performing minor maintenance tasks such as raking the campsite pad, washing tables, cleaning out fire rings, picking up litter, and reporting any damage to the Maintenance Supervisor. Each site must be cleaned after every camper checks out and before another checks in.
Host shall not attempt to discipline or apprehend any park violators. Host will report all disturbances to Fairgrounds staff. LAW ENFORCEMENT WILL BE DONE BY CERTIFIED ENFORCEMENT RANGERS ONLY. You are to inform campers of rules and regulations but are not to participate in any high-risk activity. Host must set an example by being a model camper practicing good housekeeping at all times in and around their assigned site and by observing all rules and regulations.
Assure fees are collected for each site with appropriate payment identifying paperwork.
Utilize the campground management system daily reports to plan for arrivals and departures.
Host is expected to work most weekends and all holidays during their term. Be observant for activities within the campground requiring immediate attention - ranging from a tree needing to be trimmed to a problem camper. Notify the Maintenance Supervisor as these problems arise.
Keep a written report of complaints and criticism of park facilities, report situations that could affect the health and safety of visitors and report any maintenance items which need immediate attention. May maintain other written records as requested by the Fairgrounds Director.

Keep track of occupied or vacant campsites
Direct campers to vacant sites
Remind campers to register at park fee collection station
Remove expired camper receipts from site marker posts
Assist Park staff with camper reservation process
Inform incoming campers where family or friends are located

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
Working Conditions: The majority of work will be performed outside, doing rounds on the grounds in all kinds of weather, typically dry and arid, hot and windy at times.
Physical Abilities: The physical abilities described here are representative of those that must be met by volunteer campground host to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the volunteer campground host is regularly required to walk, sit, write, hear, speak, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, go up and down a ladder and/or step stool to retrieve/file away files, and lift up and/or move up to 50 lbs. of unequal weight. The position requires the volunteer campground host to walk the grounds regularly, stand with very little sitting. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distant vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. We are looking for a volunteer campground host for the upcoming camping season. A site with sewer, water and power will be provided. The Grant County Fairgrounds has 456 RV sites in five campgrounds. The grounds receives approximately 7-10 inches of rain per year and is central to plenty of outdoor activities.
