SUMMARY
This position performs all duties assigned by the Vice President for Student Services pertaining to counseling services for HCC students on the Highland Campus and the Atchison Campus. This job will entail regular evening hours in order to best serve the residential student population at the Highland Campus.

This position will work 10 months of the year, August through May. Benefits include single coverage health/dental paid by the College, sick leave, holiday pay.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Initiates and maintains required administrative and clinical documentation;

2. Assist students in the development of their individual educational plan and goals;

3. Assist with alcohol and drug counseling for identified students;

4. Conduct affinity group sessions as appropriate for student body;

5. Offer Personal Development presentations in accordance with campus needs;

6. Assist in the planning, development, and implementation of programs designed to encourage the success and retention of students;

7. Provide counseling for special populations to include veterans, foreign students, and non-traditional students;

8. Participate in student orientation;

9. Cooperate with other services, programs, and departments in identifying and working with students with special needs;

10. Provide individual counseling to assist students in resolving personal problems;

11. Confer with teaching faculty and other college personnel;

12. Refer students to campus support services;

13. Refer students to community agencies;

14. Provide crisis intervention and support;

15. Participate in evaluation of counseling services and programs;

16. Continue to develop professional skills and knowledge;

17. Participate in planning, developing, and implementing staff development programs as needed;

18. Keep counseling data including numbers of clients served and general student needs;

19. Be an active member of the Care Team, Crisis Team, and the Retention Team;

20. Participate in Summer Blitz as needed.

Education and/or Experience
Master's degree in counseling, social work, or related field. Experience in education environment desired. Crisis intervention training highly desired.

Certificates/Licenses/Registrations
Prefer LMSW, LPC, LCSW, or LSCSW. Must have a valid driver's license with no major infractions in the past five years.
