CAMPUS SAFETY OFFICER Job at Wayne UNC Health Care
Minimum Qualifications: Graduate certificate from an accredited public or private high school; at least one year experience with a private security agency is preferred.
Aptitudes: Must be able to maintain effective working relationships and communication levels with co-workers, supervisors, administration, and the public; Must have valid NC driver's license; must have computer skills for data retrieval; ability to exercise good judgment when contacting hospital police officers and performing duties.
Function: Campus safety officers ensure a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff; protect hospital property and equipment from theft or damage, maintain traffic and parking control and present positive image to all who visit the hospital.
Essential Responsibilities: Ensures appropriate interaction with all employees, patients, and visitors. Patrols interior of hospital facility and exterior of buildings and all campus property; checks doors, windows and all exterior entrances on routine basis; patrols all floors of hospital as well as business offices and support facilities; maintains surveillance and observation for criminal activities, lost/missing patients, incidents and areas where security is needed or assistance required.
May be assigned to a fixed post in the Emergency Department maintaining a safe and secure environment.
Performs preliminary investigation of reported crime, interviews witnesses, gathers and preserves evidence; and assists law enforcment agencies who come to Wayne Memorial Hospital in performance of their duties.
Escorts visitors, volunteers, and hospital staff to his/her vehicle when requested. Performs all other duties as assigned.
