We currently have an opportunity to join our team of talented and diverse Faculty and Staff as a Career Advisor.


Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and at least one (1) year of career advising or related professional experience. Must have knowledge of academic and occupational programs, labor market databases and the ability to analyze and address the educational and personal needs of students.


Working Hours: Working Hours: Regular working hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday. This position requires the employee to work evening and weekend hours and during special community events. This position is also required to work at each College location and late nights as scheduled. In district travel is required and the applicant must have reliable transportation.


The annual starting salary is $38,500.00.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Advise students regarding major exploration, career choices & pathways, goals, strengths, occupations, resumes, cover letters and interviewing.
  • Coordinates Job Fairs & employment opportunities. Advise and registers students and companies for on campus interviews. Swerve as a liaison between employers, faculty, staff, and students.
  • Promotes services and resources, maintains, and develops activities to highlight career exploration programs and databases, and disseminate through workshops and classroom presentations, and communication campaigns.
  • Maintains job development database to track student activity, employer contacts, confirmations, and student placements. Generates reports on the number of new alliances through various outreach efforts.
  • Cultivates targeted employment opportunities and messaging for students by working directly with employers in the community.
  • Maintains and updates Career Services website as needed. Maintains record system for assigned area and processes daily paperwork.
  • Maintains accurate spreadsheets with Career Advisor placement statistics. Provides supervisor with weekly, monthly and annual placement comparisons for goal setting.
  • Provides academic and career advising for students during peak registration periods.
  • Provide other advising and administrative support as required to accomplish the mission and goals of Career Services, and Daytona State College.

  • Exceptional marketing, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to develop and meet goals and be flexible to match the demands of the students and department.
  • Knowledge of social media techniques, and ability to stay abreast of best practices in social media.
  • Applicant must be able to take direction, work with a diverse population of students and staff and employers.
  • Proficiency with common office software.
  • Must be able to work effectively, professionally and with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to prioritize and coordinate projects.
  • Ability to lift or move up to 50 lbs.
