Job Description
All employees at the Curtis Bay Site have environment, health and safety roles and responsibilities and are accountable for achieving compliance with our EHS Policy including emergency preparedness and response as defined in site-wide and local area documentation. Employees are responsible for repairing and maintaining equipment and plant facility infrastructure.
Employee will perform various activities to maintain the facility, participate in snow removal, moving of equipment and furniture. Employee may be scheduled to work overtime and Holidays as demands dictate. Personal protective equipment must be worn.
Responsibilities
- Complies with all safety rules, permits, policies, and procedures.
- Identifies and reports hazards to supervision in an appropriate and timely manner.
- Provides job feedback to supervisor as required.
- Supports Maintenance Excellence initiatives as required.
- Maintains a high level of housekeeping in work areas at all times.
- Use computer and telecommunications devices including keyboards and other forms of data entry and retrieval.
- Operate sandblaster, shop tools, and hand tools, sprayers, power washers, and other tools as needed to efficiently and effectively complete jobs
- Inspects and makes minors repairs to safety showers (not pipe fitting)
- Inspects and tests emergency lighting
- Installs and inspects Fire Extinguishers
- Performs light insulation repair work.
- Complete all regulatory testing and attend safety meetings as required.
- Stenciling and Labeling associated with vessels and piping not fully repainted by painters.
- Operates forklift, elevated work platforms, and other equipment necessary for the job.
- Reads and interprets drawings & sketches.
- Fabricates and uses stenciling and label makers.
- Uses sandblasting equipment to prep for painting
- Replaces light bulbs in office areas.
- Repairs ceiling tiles, and vinyl floor or carpet tile.
- Meet all training requirements
Physical Requirements and Environment
Required Qualifications
To successfully perform this job, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Pass a basic skills test
- Possess a valid driver’s license.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or an equivalent combination of education and directly related on the job experience. Preferred 3 yrs related experience in industrial setting.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, drawings and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to utilize computers.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several variables.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Forklift Certification.
