As a Certified Medical Assistant, you will be doing:
1. Performs all duties within the scope of a Medical Assistant’s standards of practice.
2. Access the appropriate Electronic Medical Record (eCW/NextGen) to view patient medical record to process med refill requests.
3. Strictly adheres to established advanced protocols to handle incoming contacts including, but not limited to, prescription refill requests, lab results, x-ray results, clinical inquiries and referral requests.
4. Assists callers with general contacts including, but not limited to, refills, appointment scheduling, general facility and provider information, general requests, medical records requests and issue resolution.
5. Verify and update patient information in the electronic medical record and or tracking system.
6. When appropriate, assigns electronic tasks to clinic staff/provider to intervene with medically related inquiries and requests and to address concerns.
7. Contact patients to provide and/or obtain information and/or status of a request, as well as communicate special outbound call campaign messaging.
8. Review patient chart (in EMR) to ensure core measures are being addressed and met per protocol and takes appropriate action when they are not, i.e., schedule required services.
9. Strictly follow the Medication Refill Protocol when processing patient requests.
10. In addition to documenting all calls and actions thoroughly, the Medical Assistant will do:
a. View patient demographics (name, gender, DOB, phone number, etc.)
b. View clinic assignment as captured by DID at the time of the call
c. View call history (date of call, time of call, reason for call, outcome and notes, etc.)
11. Work effectively in a structured, production environment.
12. Adhere to daily schedules and assignments.
13. Assist patients with identification of and connectivity to community and program resources to assist with non-medical needs (Pharmacy assistance programs, meals on wheels, LIS).
14. Refer medically related inquiries/requests and complaints to clinic staff/provider for intervention and resolution.
15. Works collaboratively with clinic staff and other departments to provide an exceptional patient experience.
14. Performs all other related duties as assigned.

  • High school graduate or GED equivalent
  • Current, nationally recognized Medical Assistant certification
  • 1 -3 years’ experience working as a Medical Assistant in a clinical or medical office environment
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and medications
  • Strong computer experience (data entry, screen navigation, keyboarding), including working in an Electronic Medical Record or Electronic Health Records
  • Experience with Microsoft Outlook (email) and Word
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to adhere to daily schedules and duties
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent demonstration of caring and compassion
