Position Summary
As a member of the senior management team the Chief Financial Officer has the primary strategic responsibility for planning, implementing, and managing all financial-related activities of Home Federal Bank. This position provides counsel to and collaborates on strategic decisions with the Chief Executive Officer, Executive Leadership, and Board of Directors. The guidance provided will be regarding the Bank's internal accounting and financial reporting policies and programs to ensure that they comply with accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and applicable banking regulations. This position oversees the analysis and reporting of the financial status of the bank. Responsible for directing the Bank's investment portfolio.

Essential Job Functions

  • Responsible for the strategic direction and oversight of the bank's financial management to advance the bank's objectives and direct the accounting departments in support of those objectives.
  • Assess financial performance of the bank about long-term operational goals, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Provide insight and recommendations to both short-term and long-term growth plans of the bank.
  • Create and establish yearly financial objectives that align with the bank's plan for growth and profitability.
  • Collaborate and support other bank departments relating to financial matters that may improve their profitability and efficiency while developing and maintaining positive relationships with key partners and stakeholders.
  • Provide direction, organization, and supervision to the accounting, budget preparation, and finance functions.
  • Establish financial policies and systems to support corporate strategies and ensure continual compliance and adherence to regulatory guidance.
  • Hire, train, coach and evaluate the performance of direct reports.
  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships within department, bank, and other external entities.
  • Attend and participate in appropriate board and senior level committee meetings.
  • Ensure that effective internal controls are in place for compliance with GAAP and all applicable federal and state laws and rules for financial and tax reporting.
  • Oversee all treasury activities including investments, borrowings, and liquidity management.
  • Oversee timely preparation of and review of various financial reports for the bank, including financial statements and filings required by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
  • Oversee preparation of all budgets based on projected operating costs and the overall asset and liability management plan including a 5-year financial plan.
  • Evaluate the bank's net interest margin including the establishment of loan and deposit rates, the attainment of non-interest income goals and non-interest expense controls, and the provision for loan losses.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university.
  • Ten years related financial industry leadership and accounting/auditing experience preferred.
  • Prior experience in leading budget and forecasting processes required.
  • Previous management of projects, departments, or another supervisory role required.
  • Position requires occasional overnight travel to attend various training conferences, workshops, or seminars.
  • Certified Public Accountant (C.P.A.) certificate, or equivalent, preferred.
  • Knowledge of GAAP, banking regulatory, and SEC reporting preferred.
  • Ability to work at a strategic level in collaboration with a senior management team.
  • Motivate, develop, and direct people as they work, identify the best people for the job. Adjust actions in relation to others' actions.

Work Environment

  • Work takes place in a typical office environment equipped with a computer, phone and other office supplies.
