Description

The Department of Finance and Risk Engineering (FRE) at the NYU Tandon School of Engineering (NYU Tandon) invites applications for the position of the Department Chair and Associate Professor or Professor of FRE, with an anticipated start date between June 1, 2023, and September 1, 2023. We invite applications from tenured Faculty members or distinguished industry thought leaders in Financial Engineering, Mathematical Finance, Finance, or a closely related discipline.


Qualifications

The Chair is expected to be a person with exceptional leadership skills, including communication, delegation, collaboration, and advocacy development. A Ph.D. degree in Financial Engineering, Mathematical Finance, Applied Mathematics, Finance, or a related field is required. Other qualifications and responsibilities include the following:


  • Develop strategic plans and new initiatives for the department and oversee implementation.
  • Provide vision and leadership to advance the education and research missions of the department.
  • Oversee all aspects of the M.S. program in Financial Engineering (MSFE).
  • Oversee and support personnel development (faculty recruitment, promotion/tenure, training, professional education, annual reviews, faculty research, and collaboration).
  • Develop and expand experiential and industry relationships to foster opportunities and program growth.
  • Serve as primary Departmental advocate to enhance the visibility of Departmental programs on and off campus.
  • Manage department allocation of fiscal and human resources, including faculty teaching assignments.

Additional Information

In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary (for 9 month) range for this position is $235,000 - $305,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
