Responsibilities


Job Summary:

Responsible in the areas of: patient/family/staff spiritual care worship and prayer grievance counseling outreach to the community through education and support group activity and direction of volunteers.


General Duties

  • Supports the goals of the Spiritual Services team and actively participates in departmental meetings and projects. Is a team player. Participates in daily prayer.
  • Provides excellent communication (verbal and written) within the department and throughout the hospital facilities and community.
  • Demonstrates an ability to assess needs and manage time effectively and works collaboratively with other chaplains in the fulfillment of the Spiritual Services department responsibilities.
  • Prioritizes assesses and applies appropriate interventions for patient and family visits. Documents visits in a timely manner. Participates in continuing care rounds patient care conferences and on-call service.
  • Maintains an accurate statistical record of services rendered to patient family staff and community.
  • Assists in the planning development and presentation of spiritual care education classes for staff clergy volunteers and community outreach programs. Keep appropriate documentation.
  • Demonstrates strong partnership with community clergy.
  • Participates in palliative care team providing spiritual support to patients facing end of life decisions.
  • Acts as grief counselor to patient family and staff as needed.
  • Ensures optimum operation of the department through good attendance history and flexibility with assigned shift. Is on time for scheduled shift.

Qualifications


Minimum Required:

  • Must possess a Masters degree in theology or spirituality.
  • Must possess a valid National Associations of Catholic Chaplain (NACC) or Association of Protestant Chaplain (APC) certification or obtain one within two years of hire date.
  • Must possess a valid California drivers license in good standing.
  • Must be in good standing in the Church through ecclesiastical endorsement
  • Must be able to take call

  • Computer skills
  • Second language

Pay Range
$26.51 - $38.44 /hour
