Southern Wisconsin Center (SWC) is recruiting to fill a part-time Chaplain position located in Union Grove.

SWC is a state operated Intermediate Care Facility for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities. SWC provides a wide variety of programs and services designed to assist and prepare individuals to live successfully in the setting that best meets their needs. State of Wisconsin benefits will be prorated based on hours worked, ample sick time, and an exceptional retirement plan.

The work schedule will be determined upon hire, this is a part-time position working 12 hours per week.

Position Summary


The chaplain provides religious/spiritual services to the people supported by SWC in an interfaith manner. This position provides regularly scheduled services, instruction, and guidance for individuals with intellectual disabilities.

Salary Information


The starting salary is between $20.00 - $27.50 per hour, depending on experience. Pay for current State of WI employees will be based on the compensation plan in effect at time of appointment. The pay schedule and range is 03/12. A 12-month probationary period is required.

Job Details


All applicants who may be appointed to this position will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.

All appointees will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by SWC or medical personnel approved by the facility prior to their start date.

Employees are required to provide documentation of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by their start date. Exceptions will be granted to those who obtain an approved medical or religious accommodation or those who provide documentation requiring a delay in receiving the vaccine.

Candidates must provide documentation or a letter of endorsement from an authority representing a faith community in order to verify eligibility. Please attach this in the ‘Supporting Documentation’ section of the job announcement.

Qualifications


Qualifications:

Minimally qualified applicants will have all of the following:

  • Documentation or a letter of endorsement (uploaded in the ‘Supporting Documentation’ section of the job application) from an authority representing a faith community.
  • Experience administering religious/spiritual programs including interfaith services and study groups (e.g., scheduling, coordinating staff/volunteers and resources, record keeping, etc.).

Well-qualified applicants will also have one or more of the following:

  • Experience adapting services to meet the needs of those with physical and/or intellectual disabilities.
  • Experience providing pastoral/spiritual ministry/support to individuals or families who may be in distress or crisis including end of life support.
  • Experience structuring interfaith religious study curriculum for varying levels of comprehension.
