Catholic Charities of Baltimore is currently seeking a Day Care Teacher who is a teacher of young children in a day care setting.

Sarah’s House is a supportive housing program offering emergency shelter and project-based supportive housing with an array of other services for families experiencing homelessness in Anne Arundel County.

We provide safe shelter, daily meals and casework support for those in need. As a supportive housing program for families experiencing homelessness, Sarah’s House is much more than just a safe place to sleep. Our goal is to effect positive change in the families we serve by providing supportive services.

Schedule: Monday - Friday: 7am - 6pm

**The hours for this position can vary depending on the day and coverage needs. Applicant must be able to work as early as 7am and stay as late as 6pm. This is a 40 hour per week position.**

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Plan and maintain a safe, healthy and stimulating environment both in the child care classrooms and outdoors.
• Plan and implement activities that will provide experience for each individual child’s social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development.
• Set clear and consistent limits for children and communicate guidelines positively while allowing children to make choices.
• Communicate with parents and staff to establish a free flow of information, and to demonstrate principles of good child care.
• Maintain daily classroom records for parents and for the Director.
• Assist in daily and periodic housekeeping chores needed to keep the Center clean and orderly.
• Other Duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS & ABILITIES:

• Must have graduated from high school or have obtained an approved certificate of high school equivalency.
• Must have completed at least 90 classroom hours in early childhood curriculum and development, and must have one year of experience in an early childhood setting.
• Degree in early childhood education or CDA credential is desirable.
• Driving (Agency and/or personal vehicle) is required for this position. Driver must be at least 21 years of age, with a minimum of 2 years of driving experience, and a valid driver’s license issued by the state of residence. There can be no state issued restrictions on the licenses that would impede driver’s ability to operate the vehicle as required by the Agency, and there must not be more than three (3) points on their driving record.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Oral and written communication skills required.
• Ability to work effectively in a team setting necessary.
• Should have experience with low income population.
• Must be capable of moving between buildings and going up and down stairs.
• Must be able to lift 40 pounds. Must be able to hear and see activities in the Center.
