Looking for a entry level, New Graduate, Civil Engineer Associate, for a well-respected client in Columbus, OH. This is a 12 month contract, potential to turn perm., working a hybrid schedule, Wed/Thurs in office, starting pay of $27.14 an hour. There would be 5% travel potential, to project job sites, with occasional overtime, depending on project deadlines.

This position will support the Transmission Line Engineering department. The selected candidate will utilize PLS-CADD software to design and analyze transmission lines according to industry and company standards.

Responsible to the assigned supervisor for performing entry level engineering work activities and projects requiring the application of engineering knowledge in a safe, effective, efficient, and economic accomplishment. Candidates must have a willingness to perform a variety of civil engineering tasks.

Day to day:

  • Provide civil engineering support for Transmission Line Engineering department
  • Utilize PLS-CADD software to design & analyze transmission lines
  • Develop functional and detailed scoping documents for estimating purposes
  • Order material for construction
  • Create construction drawing packages
  • Attend project and team meetings
  • Perform site visits as needed
  • Competence in the use of computer software PLS-CADD
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Proper document archiving at project closeout

Minimum Requirements:

This is an entry level; minimum requirement is a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited U.S. College. (Any acquired related engineering experience a plus).

  • Technical Expertise: Proficiency in theory and analytical techniques to solve problems and analysis, systems, and component equipment
  • Leadership & Guidance: Ability to work with others in both supplying information
  • Planning & Organization Ability: Project planning documentation for scheduling, using scheduling techniques (CPM, PERT, flow charts, etc.) for budget and planning. Monitors project status, prepares cost estimates, and accomplishes work according to plans and schedules established by higher-level employees
  • Problem Solving & Initiative: Applies techniques to perform analysis resolving technical problems and presenting new ideas and new approaches
  • Communication: Assists with preparation of reports and technical papers. Communicates effectively, both verbally and in writing. Listens and understands instructions
  • Interpersonal Skills: Networking with peers and ability to be a team player
  • Decision Making: Decision-making skills
