InterCommunity, Inc is a FQHC LA (Federally Qualified Health Center Look Alike). Our health center provides same-day primary care services to every member of the community, regardless of life situation or ability to pay. We also provide a wide array of behavioral health services. Our community Health Care Centers are located at 281 Main St. East Hartford, 16 Coventry St. Hartford and 828 Sullivan Ave., South Windsor. InterCommunity’s Addiction Services offers a similarly wide range of substance use treatment and recovery-supportive services, with many sites in the Hartford area. We provide services across the spectrum of care, including primary care, residential detoxification and substance use treatment, multiple levels of residential care, outpatient substance use disorder and mental health services for adults and children, intensive outpatient programs, employment and community support, mobile crisis evaluations, judicial support services and social rehabilitation.

The Child First Early Childhood Mental Health and Developmental Clinician will provide intensive, home-based, caregiver-child psychotherapy with families with multiple challenges, as part of a team with a Child FIRST Care Coordinator. This will include comprehensive assessment of child and family strengths and needs and development of a comprehensive, coordinated family-driven Child and Family Plan of Care. S/he will also provide child specific mental health consultation in early care and/or educational sites, as appropriate, and collaboration with all other service providers working with the family.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Engage with family in a comprehensive assessment of the strengths and needs of the child and family, including completion of all required assessment measures.
  • Provide Child FIRST intensive, home-based mental health intervention with young children and their parents using relational, parent-child, dyadic psychotherapy and other modalities.
  • Use video to document aspects of the Child FIRST intervention both as a therapeutic modality and to enhance the process of reflective supervision.
  • Work in the home in close partnership with a Child FIRST Care Coordinator.
  • Work flexible hours to meet the needs of families, at least one evening.
  • Provide mental health and developmental assessment and consultation within early care and education and kindergarten.
  • Develop comprehensive, well-coordinated, family-driven Child and Family Plan of Care, in partnership with the Care Coordinator, the family, and chosen service providers.
  • Participate in Child FIRST weekly, individual, team, and group clinical reflective supervision.
  • Complete monthly metrics and work to improve performance.
  • Enter all outcome measures in Child FIRST cross-site database.
  • Complete all Child FIRST Fidelity Assessments in order to monitor and maintain fidelity to the Child FIRST model.
  • Keep all appropriate documentation for clinical accountability and reimbursement.
  • Submit all necessary documentation for reimbursement for services in a timely manner.
  • Work closely with the DCF staff and with other community service providers as most appropriate to meet the needs of the child and family.
  • Participate in collaborative meetings, conferences, and trainings as appropriate.
  • Work under the direct supervision of Child FIRST Clinical Director.
  • Attend 90% of Learning Collaborative sessions, specialty and quarterly trainings, and the Child FIRST Annual Conference.

Requirements:Education &/Or Experience:
Master’s level or higher, licensed, with at least three years’ experience in early childhood mental health and development. A license-eligible clinician (receiving clinical supervision for licensure expected within the following 12 months, or licensed in another state and in the process of receiving licensure) with explicit permission of the Child First State Clinical Director.
