- Supervises and manages nursing services in accordance with the hospital mission, vision, values, goals and objectives.
- Strong ability to lead and develop others individually and as a team, and to be an effective team member.

- Directs the development of inpatient goals and objectives that are consistent with hospital mission, and strategic initiatives.
- Effectively collaborates with administration, management, medical staff, and clinical leaders in the organization’s planning and decision-making structures and processes.
- Develops and implements division’s operational process that defines structure, function, working relationships, allocation of resources, and communication networks.
- Collaborates with external agencies, colleagues, consultants, and other organizations on regular basis.
- Regularly meets with management and other personnel within assigned division to facilitate information exchange, problem resolution, planning, and timely communication.
- Ensures that performance and competency management systems are effective within the division. Directs and assists department directors with complex personnel matters and collaborates with Human Resources staff.
- Achieves high levels of morale in division.
- Systematically approaches and evaluates issues and opportunities in a timely and complete manner; prioritizes and establishes short-term and/or long-term solutions as needed.
- Utilizes benchmarks, regulatory agency standards (e.g., DNV, CMS), patient satisfaction data in decision making.
- Ensures that appropriate management and other personnel, both internal and external to division, are involved in assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of services.
- Effectively communicates to others and follows up related to quality issues, whether isolated or sentinel events.
