Performs revenue collection tasks for COMCARE services billing to various payer sources. Duties include payment reconciliation, insurance updates and follow-up on account receivables to maximize COMCARE revenue collections. Employee must be able to complete complex tasks by applying CCBHC practices, standard office policies, authorized instructions, and past precedents to achieve a desired outcome. Employee must quickly recognize emergency or sensitive situations and take appropriate action. Critical decision making and the ability to think through the consequences of a decision are essential in this position.

Processing Accounts Receivable transactions
Download payment files from the applicable payer website/clearinghouse
Post payments utilizing the 835 (electronic remittance) or manually for assigned payers
Work applicable balance reports; research billing problems
Process credit card payments
Prepare and forward denial notification spreadsheet to Affiliates

Monitor Status of Aged Accounts
Research outstanding claims and make any corrections necessary so that claims can be processed correctly
Research payment discrepancies
Process recoupments when needed
Communicate with claims customer service to resolve claim issues
Determine accuracy of denials and make appropriate corrections
Communicate with provider representatives regarding claim projects

Processing claim appeals/reconsiderations with payers
Process online claim reconsiderations and appeals via payer website
Submit claim corrections via applicable websites
Monitor status of reconsiderations to ensure they are processed correctly

Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent. One year office or administrative support. Must pass pre-employment testing of Excel 70% to be completed after interview. Meet the specifications as outlined in the CMHC/CCBHC licensing standards and pass KBI, DCF child abuse check and adult abuse registry. Must complete orientations provided by Sedgwick County and COMCARE. In order to comply with the requirements of the federal health care staff COVID-19 vaccination mandate, all employees of COMCARE and the Health Department must be fully vaccinated. All offers of employment are contingent upon submission of vaccination documentation prior to start date.

Preferred Qualifications: Coursework in HealthCare billing. One year experience in healthcare billing or related field.
