The Position: We are looking for a Communications Manager who will be responsible for supporting communication to drive strategy, our sustainable story, and pride in North America facilities. The role is responsible for developing and executing multi-channel communications, both internal and external, striving to drive awareness and understanding of business performance, organizational culture, behavior change and team member engagement. This position will be a strategist working with our leaders to create effective communication, with internal audiences from office-based employees to our frontline people on operational work sites.

Responsibilities:

  • Safety: Act in accordance with Liberty safety policies and procedures. Identify and control risks through providing safe systems of work for the team. Ensure compliance with OSHA standards and practices with good audit processes. As a member of the leadership actively lead safety in the business. Be proactive around safety in all facets of the role and participate in safety observations.
  • Critical Expectations and attributes: Provide strategic guidance, leadership and support to the CEO, operational and functional heads at all facilities. Lead external, digital and internal communication strategy for the team, including media relations, digital, brand, content and events.
  • Media Relations: Establish and maintain close relationships with journalists, strengthening the company's footprint in the community. Ensure that selected spokespersons are effectively trained to deliver key messages. Identify and maximize opportunities to profile Liberty's brand, lifestyle and technical leadership and new initiatives. Materially improve productivity through increased coverage and reduced agency spend, without sacrificing quality of output.
  • Internal Communications: Develop and deliver informative and engaging local communications activity through various mediums (print, digital, face -to-face). Develop and execute strategies and multi-stage communication plans that engage employees and drive behavior change. Provide well-written, research, validated, clear and consistent business communications on a range of topis that span business announcements, leadership communications, meeting presentations, multimedia, scripts, key messages and talking points. Partner closely with business leaders, HR, Safety and other internal stakeholders to build capability and develop employee messaging and communication plans to help drive results and advance strategic priorities and initiatives. Understand the unique needs of the various audience groups across the business in order to guide business partners on their strategic priorities.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications or related field. Master's degree a plus.
  • Minimum 5-10 years' experience in internal corporate communications.
  • Superior communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Well-developed knowledge of all media sources.
  • Demonstrated track record in creating business value and deliver winning solutions.
  • Requires a broad range of internal communication and employee engagement experience ranging from major transformation programs to activities and campaigns within large and complex organizations.
  • Wide-ranging digital experience with a strong understanding of internal and external environments and associated governance, change communication, content strategy and community management to support business objectives.
  • Ability to oversee and execute multiple projects simultaneously while working effectively under the pressure of last-minute deadlines and changing priorities.
  • Strong experience with events and logistics.
  • Experience working with senior management to provide communication counsel and act as trusted resource.
  • Solid experience with email communications and measurement systems, intranet platforms, content management systems, and other technologies designed to support internal communication strategies.

Pay range begins at $180,000 with a discretionary target bonus of 50%.
