Where the Chemistry Happens

Communications Specialist, Southeast Communications Hub, Geismar, LA

Under the direction of the Southeast Communications Hub Manager, this position is responsible for coordinating employee communications programs, channels and messaging at the Geismar site and 15+ sites across the Southeast Communications Hub. This position also supports external communications efforts, serves as a communications counselor to strategic leadership team members and coordinates employee volunteer activity.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Formula for Success

• Support the ongoing implementation of an employee communications plan with the central goals of increasing collaboration and engagement across employees in all areas of the sites. This includes manufacturing and functional employees who reside at the sites. Under the direction of Southeast Communications Hub Manager, this involves working closely with BASF's Corporate Communications team to develop and implement employee communications programs, ensure effectiveness of communications tools, and cascade information to sites’ employees.

• Counsel and support strategic leadership team members with site communications efforts and activities.

• Foster, encourage and recognize volunteerism with employees across the sites.

• Support the sites’ external communications and community relations programs that strengthens the sites’ position as a respected corporate citizen.

• Utilize an integrated communications approach with both internal and external communications, factoring in social media, public relations, advertising and other disciplines.

• Support the site emergency response plans for Communications as directed, working in close collaboration with BASF Corporate Communications. Serve as a back-up spokesperson during time of incident or crisis if needed. Support the updating of the site's crisis communications plans to ensure the plans remain robust, up-to-date and exercised on a regular basis with alignment with the Corporate Communications team.
