The Central Family Life Center, Inc. (CFLC) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that seeks to improve the lives and environment of Staten Island residents. The mission of The Central Family Life Center is to provide Staten Island individuals, including children, seniors, at-risk youth, and families of varying backgrounds, with the needed services, programs, and opportunities to improve their overall well-being. CFLC has maintained an active role in the Staten Island community for 30 years. CFLC serves the community through educational programming, workshops, and direct services designed to empower and improve the lives of the Staten Island Borough's most vulnerable population.

Job Summary

Community Coordinator: Under the supervision of the CMS site executive director, the community coordinator will perform work involving planning, implementation, coordination and monitoring of community services to other credible messengers and young people with risk factors of violence. Services could include conflict resolution, skills development, case management services, wrap-around services linkages and communication with intergovernmental agencies and community base organizations (CBO).

Reporting Directly to the executive director and/or Program Manager, Community Coordinator will actively create and sustain partnerships between community and public safety oriented organizations in NYC neighborhoods to ensure neighborhoods have access to existing initiative coming from City Hall. Community Coordinator will promote City Hall’s existing initiatives in an assigned geographic territory.

DUTIES AND NECESSARY SKILLS CAN INCLUDE BUT MAY NOT BE LIMITTED TO:

· Liaising with community based organizations and city government to build synergy and expand programmatic offerings.

· Coordinating themed weekends of actions geared towards public safety where community organizations and affected population communicate and collaborate to improve the lives of all New Yorkers.

· Serve as a CMS site’s primary representation to their specific neighborhood, precinct and catchment area.

· Identify new community groups and public and private initiative with which to build relationships with and to apply for funding opportunities.

· Coordinating and promoting anti-gun violence workshops and pro-social event where community stakeholders and agencies partners to communicate and deliver services in targeted neighborhoods.

· Working within NYC neighborhood and populations who may be at increased risk of violence.

· Producing events and managing community coalitions.

· Identify emerging community issues affecting public safety to help guide the site response.

· Working alongside City agencies to conduct briefing and community meeting outlining city services and to key community and faith leader stakeholders.

· Helping to facilitate CMS hiring panel process including outreach and recruitment for potential site staff and/or participants.

· Create outreach materials, talking points and presentation material for CMS site.

· Excellent communication, planning, organizational and multi-tasking abilities.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

1. A bachelor degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties describe above; or

2. High School graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or

3. Education and/ or experience which is equivalent to “1” or “2” above. However, all candidates must have a least one year of experience as described in “1” above.

Job Type: Full-time

Reports to: Program Manager

Schedule: Mon-Fri 10 AM to 6 PM (Weekend and Holidays Availability)

Salary: $32,000-$35, 000 Annually
