Community Health Educator Job at Redington-Fairview General Hospital
Somerset Public Health is seeking a qualified individual to provide leadership to our substance use prevention program. Successful candidate must have the ability to work within a team and individually to collaborate with municipalities, law enforcement, schools, health care professionals, and work sites, among others to improve policies and environments that reduce the use of substances by youth and adults.
Status: Full time, 34 hour (with future possibility of 40 hours) grant-funded with full benefits
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
Education and/or Experience

- Identifies community needs, contributes to the development of trainings, and provides technical assistance to community partners to change policies and environments.
- Develops implementation strategies and work plans to effect change at the community level.
- Provides direct education to students regarding the risks associated with substance use and other risky behaviors.
- Collects relevant data to evaluate interventions, reviews secondary data sources and related material, when appropriate.
- Provides detailed reports to funders and program officers.
- Accurately and clearly communicates to sites and partners.
- Has strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
Education and/or Experience
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in community health, health education, public
health or other related field.
- Demonstrated experience and proficiency in convening and facilitating
groups to effect policy and environmental changes for population health improvement
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- A valid Maine Driver's License
- Experience working with non-profit, government and/or private foundation grants preferred.
