Compliance Testing Analyst
About The Role:
Our team is seeking a Senior Analyst to join the Global Compliance Monitoring & Testing team to support T. Rowe Price’s North America Compliance testing program. You will be responsible for executing Compliance tests to demonstrate compliance with applicable laws and regulations. This will involve partnering with Compliance and Legal team members, consulting with assurance and business partners to identify compliance risks and proactively evaluate compliance controls. The ideal candidate will possess and demonstrate knowledge and experience with the regulations and multiple disciplines involved in the operations of an investment management firm. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Execute tests on the annual test plan within framework standards
  • Plan, scope and set test objectives for assigned areas of testing
  • Apply a risk-based approach to assess whether the firm has appropriate policies and procedures and evaluate that controls are operating effectively to comply with applicable laws
  • Apply data analytic techniques to perform select tests, increase scale and depth of analysis, create impactful visualizations, and explore potential data relationships
  • Identify and offer recommendations resulting from testing, and collaborate with business partners to assist in developing remediation plans to ensure the areas of concern are addressed in a timely manner
  • Document test work and draft reports describing testing performed and results
  • Track the status of outstanding findings and work with business partners to obtain updates, ensure due dates are met, and confirm remediation
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with business partners and Compliance leaders, to maintain engagement and to assist in escalating significant compliance testing matters that require attention or action.
  • Identify opportunities to scale and promote efficiencies and consistency in testing activities within North America and across regions.
  • Participate in the development of requirements and assist in implementation of automated tools, including data analytics, to innovate and enrich compliance testing activities
Role Summary
Advises internal clients in maintaining and enhancing their respective compliance programs and leads projects to improve compliance processes/programs. Applies in-depth knowledge to prepare relevant analyses and recommendations.
Responsibilities:
  • Provides advanced advice for the senior managers responsible for business unit compliance. Works with assigned internal clients to identify areas of program improvement, problem resolution, and follow-ups as needed. May provide customized work plans, documentation templates, and detailed compliance risk assessments.
  • Acts as the lead on straightforward projects driven by the needs of the business units or the chief compliance officer. Projects may be firmwide or impact the majority of business units, but are limited in risk. Coordinates internal and external resources to accomplish project goals, manages the project team, and follows up on project deadlines.
  • Conducts testing of policies and procedures for an assigned business unit. When current policies and procedures do not meet required standards, incumbents will work with business leaders to identify the areas of concern, offer recommendations, and manage the follow up to ensure the areas of concern have been addressed in a timely manner.
  • In consultation with legal team, recognizes current industry compliance issues and research and impact on T. Rowe Price and assigned business units. Communicates relevant information to various business units, which requires sound understanding of the business functions of all business units across T. Rowe Price.
Typical Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of education and relevant experience AND
  • 5+ years of total relevant work experience
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Extensive working knowledge of compliance within the asset management industry
  • Strong working knowledge of US regulations applicable to T. Rowe Price (e.g., SEC, ERISA, FINRA, NFA, CFTC)
  • Prior compliance testing, audit or risk management experience a plus
  • Team player who is able to build collaborative working relationships and interact with a diverse group of internal and external partners
  • Solid attention to detail, strong problem solving, analytical, organization, coordination, and critical thinking skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; presents ideas clearly, concisely, and persuasively, tailoring message and delivery to different audiences, including ability to present complex concepts into understandable and actionable points
  • Strong organization and prioritization skills while executing multiple priorities simultaneously, accurately, and timely
  • Accountable for work of self and sometimes others
  • Project management capabilities and process flowcharting familiarity would be advantageous
  • Uses a variety of resources, best practices, and proven tools to generate innovative ideas to improve processes

This role is eligible for remote work up to two days a week.

FINRA licenses are not required and will not be supported for this role.
