POSITION DESCRIPTION

PRIMARY FUNCTION: Concierge

DEPARTMENT: Front Office

REPORTS TO: Chief Concierge

Summary

The Concierge holds the keys to Charleston and all its adventures. The Concierge department ensures the highest level of personalized, friendly, and outstanding guest service that exceeds expectations.

Essential Functions

Major areas of responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Welcome guests in a warm and enthusiastic manner always using the guest’s name.
  • Gather, summarize, and advise guests about the hotel and the Charleston area.
  • Stay current on local events, attractions, and happenings in Charleston.
  • Promotes hotel outlets including restaurant, bars, the spa, and the Dewberry House Car to all guests.
  • Make restaurant and tour reservations upon request.
  • Anticipate guest requests and requirements in order to satisfy them efficiently and promptly.
  • Research and coordinate arrangements for guests’ special requests.
  • Respond to guest requests in under 24 hours and always follow up to ensure satisfaction. Communications must be professional, clear, and concise. Correspondences will be in person, over the phone, or through email.
  • Monitor guest requests through Alice and ensure completion.
  • Work closing with the Guest Services team to schedule and arrange Dewberry Transportation services.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others to help reach common goals set forth.
  • Oversee Dewberry Bikes Program.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma/GED required.
  • One-year hotel/hospitality operations experience.
  • One to two years customer service experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Ability to handle difficult customers and utilize exceptional guest recovery skills to ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Excellent data entry and computer skills with a strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Work positively in a team environment.
  • Must be dependable and available to work within the hotel on weekends, nights and/or holidays based on business demands.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Ability to lift, pull and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to walk and stand for up to 8 hours.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop or kneel to access files.
  • Continuous repetitive actions.
  • Must be able to see the computer screen, paperwork, etc.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
