Sell To Jim is a real estate investment company based out of Glenside. We buy and renovate 3-5 houses per month, in addition maintaining our rental portfolio of 120 properties. As you can imagine, there’s a fair amount of construction involved in doing all this, and that’s where you’d be involved. However, the good news is that you don’t need ANY construction experience or background whatsoever to be successful in this role. This role is strictly administrative.
As our Construction Administrator, you’ll be responsible for drafting checks to contractors, dispatching vendors to handle maintenance requests, drafting scopes of work, and being the primary point of contact for our base of contractors, vendors, and property managers. All final decisions related to construction will be made by your supervisor, since your role is administrative.
On a daily basis, you’ll have a 20-minute huddle with the owner of the company to review issues and questions that have come up since the prior day’s meeting. The purpose of this meeting is to ensure that you have all the answers you need and that no issue goes more than one day without being addressed. Additionally, you’ll have a more extended meeting once per week to provide a more detailed briefing of each active project to the owner, where he will provide direction and call contractors as needed. Your time spent interacting with contractors will be minimal, and you won’t be expected to have any conversations with them about their work. Any correspondence with contractors will be strictly regarding scheduling, payments, etc.
In the course of doing your job, you’ll gain a tremendous amount of insight into what it takes to successfully “flip” houses and manage a portfolio of rental properties, including short-term rentals (Air BnB, VRBO, etc.). You’ll enjoy the fulfillment of knowing that you had a major impact on the transformation of houses going from the worst house on the block to the best and nicest house on the block.
Aside from the occasional errand, your work will be at our office in Glenside, and you will maintain office hours, i.e. there is no expectation to be available after hours or on weekends. Start and finish times are flexible, based on your personal schedule and rush-hour traffic considerations. Some employees begin as early as 7 a.m., while others don’t start until 9 a.m.
We’re a small team of 6-7 people, with each person caring about and looking out for one another. If you’re looking for a rigid, corporate structure filled with office politics, then this is NOT the fit for you. Benefit: base pay plus bonus
