The Diagnostic Group is part of the Diagnostics Division and is seeking a Controller to join our team in the Eden Prairie, Minnesota office. This position may be a hybrid role with a combination of days working in the office and working remotely. The Financial Controller will be responsible for the overall financial integrity and accuracy of the Demant US Diagnostics Division. This includes, but is not limited to, the integrity of the division’s balance sheet and profit and loss statement, any budgeting, forecasting, planning or financial analysis functions, close proactive business partnering from a financial perspective, with an emphasis on customer service, and internal audit as needed.
This role is an integral member of the Finance and Shared Service Leadership Team, and partners closely with Commercial Business Management. Core competencies of the successful team member will include subject matter expertise of Accounting and Finance, with an understanding of both GAAP and IFRS standards, a strong ability to financially control and partner, starting with the balance sheet, strong analytical abilities, particularly in dealing with profit and loss statements, a proven ability to lead a team of professionals and to manage change, a strong sense of professional skepticism, and a commitment to continuous team, self and process improvements. The position will have direct reports.
Responsibilities:

  • Support Minneapolis accounting staff in performance of daily tasks and provide continuous feedback/development through periodic reviews.
  • Support local bookkeepers at manufacturing locations outside of Minneapolis providing training and assisting in resolving issues as they arise.
  • Help establish reporting to local management, US headquarter in New Jersey, and global headquarter in Copenhagen, Denmark.
  • Review and oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly and year-end financial statements for timely reporting by the fifth business day.
  • Provide status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting and reporting financial data for multiple manufacturing companies in North America.
  • Assist in identifying operational and market trends and utilize this knowledge to aid in maximization of company revenue and profit.
  • Refine/develop and provide reports that outline the company’s current and historical financial position.
  • Maintain proper controls and accurate reconciliations on all balance sheet accounts for multiple manufacturing businesses.
  • Assist local management in preparation of yearly budget and forecast.
  • Prepare necessary schedules and reports for management and government agencies, hereunder provide the Tax Department with financial data for filling of Sales and Use Tax.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in accounting or a related field
  • Master’s degree in accounting or related field or Certified Public Accountant preferred.
  • 5-8 years Public/Private work experience, preferably in a multi-location business.
  • 3-4 years audit experience preferred.
  • Previous experience in a fast-paced, continually changing/growing environment.
  • Previous experience in a shared-service environment a plus.
  • Proficient with MS Office applications, particularly Excel and Outlook. • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • External and internal customer service orientation relating to a shared service environment.
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities –projects, resource, budgetary and operational planning, with string goal definition/desired results skills.
  • Strong research and analytical skills.
  • Detail oriented, with impeccable follow through.
  • Understanding of and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of staff and management.
  • Able to build relationships at a senior level and be a trusted business advisor.
  • Proven success with new business development and/or enhancing the scope of projects.
