ProspectBlue has partnered with a local firm in Richmond seeking to add a Controller to their growing team!
Overview:
The Controller reports to the Director of Finance and will be primarily responsible for developing and enforcing accounting policies and procedures around controlling assets including fixed assets and inventory. The Controller is responsible for accounts payable, purchasing, the general ledger and other ancillary systems that feed transactional data to the general ledger. This position will play an active role in daily and monthly reporting and analysis, physical inventory, GL closing process and special projects. Responsibilities: Accounting Transactions, Cashflow Management and Financial Statements.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience:
- 2+ years of experience in Accounting functions, preferably with a rate-regulated entity
- Working knowledge of GAAP and FERC accounting standards and practices
- Aptitude for learning and developing new processes
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and decision-making in planning, organizing and conducting work assignments
- Ability to receive instructions and guidance on unusual or complex problems and know when to get others involved
- Excellent leadership, organizational, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient with Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- Experience performing month-end close process – preferred
- Experience training staff – preferred
- Experience with big-4 accounting firm – preferred
- SAP accounting system experience – preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field – required
