POSITION PURPOSE:
The Coordinator of Forensic Services provides total management of the clinical and operational functions of the Jail Diversion Program and the Forensic Specialist Outreach Team.



POSITION REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Experience:
Graduate from an accredited College or University with a minimum of a Master’s Degree in Behavioral Science or related field. Counseling or related field or equivalent preferred as a direct service provider in a social work setting. Three (3) years minimum experience in healthcare program development, project planning and implementation. Proven experience in case management, treatment plan development, mental health/substance abuse therapy, quality improvement and training. Experience working with culturally diverse clients. Knowledge regarding the Joint Commission and Regulatory Agency requirements.

Licensure / Certification:
Maintain CPR certification from the American Heart Association. LCSW/LMHC in the State of Florida. Possess knowledge in behavioral sciences, social work, and quality assurance and performance improvement methodology.

Skills / Ability:
Possess knowledge in behavioral sciences, social work, and quality assurance and performance improvement methodology. Proven ability to effectively manage professional–level employees and build appropriate work relationships with staff members. Able to effectively communicate, orally and in writing. Excellent interpersonal communication skills; proven ability to problem-solve and be solutions-oriented. Excellent organizational and administrative skills. Strong ability to work independently as well as a team member with fellow co-workers, supervisors and agency staff. Demonstrated flexibility in work schedule and job assignments; ability to work long and unpredictable hours at times. Working knowledge of Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement standards and procedures. Must be computer literate. Ability to converse in Spanish and/or Creole a plus.




POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES (THIS IS A EXEMPT POSITION)

The Coordinator of Forensic Services provides total management of the clinical and operational functions of the Jail Diversion Program and the Forensic Specialist Outreach Team.

Must maintain close working relationships with the Community Mental Health Centers, Community Case Managers, Public Defenders, the Office of the State Attorney, and the Mental Health Administrator’s Office.

He/she oversees and coordinates care issues within Behavioral Health Services and Eleventh Judicial Criminal Mental Health Program (CMHP).

He/she is responsible for providing effective leadership to the clinical staff, has knowledge of the organization and function of Behavioral Health Services and coordinates service activities in accordance with standards of State, Federal and Professional Regulations.

Assess clients being referred to the 11th Judicial Circuit CMHP.

Coordinates with forensic specialist for purposes of linking clients with Mental Health Services and providing outreach for those clients who may be in need of Substance Abuse services as per conditional release plans.

The supervisory responsibilities include ensuring program meets all internal and external standards, ensuring timely clinical assessment and other services for program consumers.

Responsibilities include monitoring program budget, managing and monitoring staff and program compliance with internal and external standards, providing clinical supervision as needed, cooperating with agency staff and external customers, and interacting with the community on behalf of the program.

Provides staff with age-specific treatment modalities and supervision in working with patients and families.

Participates in program planning, policy making and decision making for service area/s and department communicates the information to unit staff when applicable.

Participates in decision to hire, discipline and terminate staff in assigned service area.

Ensures that Policies and Procedures are followed in assigned service areas.

Provides professional counseling and therapeutic intervention to patient and/or families as needed, as well as involvement with complex and/or potentially problematic cases in service areas.

Works collaboratively with community resources specific to population served (i.e., age, diagnosis, ethnicity, religion, etc.) to coordinate, develop and implement new programs and to improve existing programs.

Works collaboratively with interdisciplinary staff to design and implement appropriate treatment plans including discharge planning.

Ensures staff’s participation in required education program and appropriate orientation and training courses to maintain competency in job skills, knowledge and equipment.

Completes mandatory in-service training.

Reviews and assesses program results (qualitatively/quantitatively) of performance of staff in relation to established project goals in conjunction with Behavioral Health Services Performance Improvement Council action as directed.

Oversees compliance of clinical documentation, case management and treatment planning.

Participate in decision to hire or fire staff in assigned service area and Behavioral Health Services overall.

Ensures that Policies and Procedures are followed in assigned service area/s.

Works collaboratively with interdisciplinary staff to design and implement appropriate treatment plans including discharge planning.

Develops leads and co-leads groups as needed.

Supports and maintains existing professional standards of CHI and Behavioral Health Services.

Analyzes and submits statistical reports on a monthly basis and/or requested.

Participates in the development, implementation and evaluation of continuous quality improvement opportunities.

Ensures development and implementation of organization-wide and age-specific competencies within respective service areas in the following areas: fire and safety, security and infection control standards, behavioral and telephone standards of conduct.

Participates in orientation and training of staff.

Maintains awareness of service area strengths and weakness.

Ensures that the service area implements “best practices”; maintains practice standards as appropriate.

Brings complex and/or potentially problematic situations to the attention of the supervisor.

Complies with required certification for CPR/CPI.

Complies with established facility Policies and Procedures.

Participates in staff meetings; responsible for obtaining information in not in attendance.

Approaches patients/families, and visitors with a respectful, caring manner to convey a sense of concern and warmth.

Prepares and submits written monthly PI reports to Behavioral Health Services PIC and Behavioral Health Services Advisory Council; makes verbal reports to Behavioral Health Service monthly and quarterly meetings.

Maintains confidentiality of patient information and records, staff interrelationships, and communication of sensitive information.

Provides coverage in the absence of peers.

Communicates and problem solves via the chain of command.

Communicates with staff, patients, families, and visitors with courtesy and respect.

Delivers care in a non-judgmental and non-discriminatory manner, sensitive to patient diversity.

Maintains 80% productivity monthly.

Reports to work on time and ready to work with minimal absenteeism.

Adheres to Confidentiality Policies and Procedures / HIPAA Regulations.

Performs other duties as assigned.
