Job Summary

D.C. United are looking for an experienced social media and digital professional to help elevate the club’s brand online and support fan development. The Coordinator of Social and Digital Media will be responsible for helping build, plan, and execute the club’s social media content calendar as well as publishing content across owned properties. Additionally, this individual will also be tasked with ideating and creating content to support the club’s first team and front office across both existing and emerging platforms. This position will be located within the D.C. United Communications and Content department and will also be responsible for the growth of the Audi Field properties across social and web.

What You Will Do

  • Plan, ideate, create, and publish content to D.C. United and Audi Field social properties. This includes, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and other emerging platforms
  • Assist in scheduling and implementing a daily/weekly/monthly social media content calendar
  • Ability to understand fan sentiment and club/player narratives to help drive content creation
  • Analyze KPIs to continually enhance our content while moving our social strategy forward
  • Recognize and react to real-time, emerging trends and current events to create content for distribution across social channels
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders within and outside of the department to coordinate content initiatives and creative
  • Real-time coverage of club matches and other Audi Field events and functions to create in-the-moment and reactionary content for our social media properties
  • Maintain and update social media channels during home and away matches
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends for matchdays

Your Background, Skills and Qualifications

  • A degree in social media, marketing, communications or related field and 1-3 years of on-the-job experience in social media
  • Extensive knowledge of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and a pulse on emerging platforms
  • Strong storytelling/copywriting/copy editing skills
  • Experience with photoshop and adobe premier preferred, but not required
  • Basic knowledge of Major League Soccer and D.C. United
  • Ability to work as a team under tight deadlines
  • Extremely detail-oriented
  • Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Experience in sports, particularly soccer, preferred, but not required

  • Must have a strong command of reasoned, measured decision-making based upon analyzing the pros and cons of each potential decision to be made
