Our Caterpillar Remanufacturing Division currently has an opening for a Team Lead IV position for the Corinth, MS & Booneville, MS facilities . Incumbents on this job serve as an integral part of the material flow and scheduling process for the Salvage Development area.

Responsibilities may include but not limited to:

  • Lead a variety of employees across several different technologies (Machining, Spray, Welding, Laser Clad, Cleaning/Reclaim, Metallurgical, Robotic/CNC program development, Advanced Manufacturing practices)
  • To help team members be successful at meeting safety requirements, team performance goals, and project work activities.
  • Approve, schedule, enter, support, and edit work order request on a daily basis.
  • Team Lead will help support and lead our Corinth and Prentiss areas. Startups will be conducted weekly in both areas as scheduled.
  • Ensure team and self are working safely, wearing proper PPE, etc
  • Ensure material is available to maintain project work, production activities, and the daily scheduling/sequencing of all work order related task.
  • Help with the training of new employees by following the OJT process.
  • Respond to issues related to safety, quality, velocity (flow, WIP, CT), and cost (throughput).
  • Request maintenance work request.
  • Fix issue or communicate to Section Manager, engineer, maintenance, or CI Card.
  • Lead problem-solving exercises for issues that arise in area.
  • Originate and own CI cards to drive continuous improvement.
  • Participate on continuous improvement teams as needed.
  • Collect data and update metric boards as needed.
  • Conduct Process Improvement Dialogues at the cell level (Prentiss and Corinth).
  • Help develop, update, and ensure 5S adherence.
  • Develop work instructions with Engineering/operations and help to ensure it is kept up-to-date and followed.
  • Ensure daily, weekly, monthly, etc. TPM is being performed.
  • Seek customer input to ensure team is meeting expectations.
  • Will be expected to know how to communicate efficiently both in oral and written language
  • Must be a swift learner and an excellent coach to train their teammates and so would be expected to have excellent problem solving skills to effectively handle the challenges and problems in the Salvage Development areas.
  • A team leader must also know how to delegate tasks to other members of his/her team
  • Support inventory needs (Tool Crib, NextGen), Hazardous/Non Hazardous waste pick up, oversite of 5S initiatives and sustaining 5S, and ensuring standard/safe work is executed or developed.
  • Some travel may be needed to support other Reman facilities or for training activities.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of manufacturing experience
  • Strong knowledge and experience with Manufacturing practices and procedures
  • Strong computer skills. Experience to include Microsoft Office programs, email, data entry, etc.
  • Previous experience with leadership and/or motivational positions or use of leadership skill sets while directing work.
  • Project team member experience: CPS, 6-Sigma, Salvage development, NPI, or other Cat Reman project work
  • Will be required to work at the Prentiss facility at least 1 day per week.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to relate effectively with all members of the team from various backgrounds
  • Previous Team Lead experience
  • Project leader experience
  • CPS experience (Standard work changes, Respond to Andon calls, RIW or PST participation, Green Belt, etc)
  • Inventory System
  • CI System
  • Maintenance Work Order system
  • ETQ reliance system
  • Experience using BIS/BIQ, NextGen, Tool Crib system and ETQ.
  • Associates or certificate in a 2 year technical program
  • Planning experience (Scheduling, project plans, material inventory, etc)
  • Technical skill set background in manufacturing (machining, robotics, welding, metal deposition, laser)

Compensation & Benefits Offered!

Starting hourly pay rate of $25.17 (pay negotiations based on skills/experience)

Work Hours: 6AM - 4PM; Monday - Thursday OR 6AM - 2PM; Monday - Friday

40-hour work weeks with potential for overtime

80 hours of vacation with an additional 24 hours of paid Personal Time Off (PTO)
