Position Summary:

Responsible for supporting a Category Manager in achieving sales and earned income (revenue) objectives. Responsible for maintaining relationships with established supplier partners and will have ownership over the rebate accrual and management process. Works closely with the Purchasing Information managers for accuracy of data control and information flow within their categories. Primary responsibilities include management of the rebate accrual process, analysis of purchasing and sales data to help identify earned income opportunities, working with the field purchasing team to increase participation with strategic suppliers with conversion of nonstrategic vendor purchases, communication regarding strategic supplier initiatives, and providing direction on market conditions and inventory positions. Acts as a liaison between field merchandising and the supplier community to streamline supply chain functions. Prepares analysis and reviews manufacturer growth programs with Category Managers. Manages communication of directed buyer activity to field merchandising when necessary. Functions as a team member within the department and organization, as required, and perform any duty assigned to best serve the company.

Responsibilities:
  • Ownership of and management of the rebate accrual process
  • Maintain relationships with established supplier partners
  • Work closely with Purchasing Information managers to ensure accuracy of data within the assigned category Communicate with the Operating Companies to assist with any local issues/opportunities.
  • Communicate market status/trends, purchase recommendations and key supplier performance updates.
  • Support Category Manager in preparation for supplier negotiations through analysis of data to develop negotiation strategy.
  • Support other strategic departments and company goals and functions with procurement related information, functions and activities.
  • Prepares analysis of growth programs with Category managers, and communicates directed buy activity with field merchandisers when necessary
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED Certification is required
  • 5-7 years of category management or buyer experience is required
  • Bachelor’s Degree is highly preferred
  • C-Store or food and beverage industry experience is highly desired
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word and Powerpoint
