Corrections Counselor Job at County of Cambria
NOW HIRING CORRECTIONS COUNSELOR AT CAMBRIA COUNTY PRISON!
This position is responsible for providing rehabilitative series, general counseling services and educational programming to the inmate population
Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology, Psychology, Counseling, Criminal Justice, or a related human services field is required. Minimum of 21 years of age. Knowledge of, or experience in, the Criminal Justice System is preferred. Experience in the field of counseling or casework is preferred. Must pass required criminal background clearances and pre-employment screenings
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Interview and classify all new commitments to make a preliminary evaluation of their psychological conditions as it immediately relates to incarceration and treatment needs. Conduct daily one on one counseling with members of the inmate population. Develop and recommend treatment programs for each individual inmate as warranted by the inmate social/criminal history, current charges, educational background, and anticipated length of incarceration. Conduct follow-up counseling on referrals from staff members. Respond to inmate requests as appropriate. Visit assigned housing units on a daily basis to meet with the inmate population, etc.
Physical Demands include but are not limited to: Must be able to lift a minimum of 25 lbs. Must be able to stand for a minimum of 30 minutes at one time, etc.
