Greater Minnesota Family Services Benson, MN 56215

FULLTIME FAMILY BASED MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELOR in Swift County and Surrounding areas

Job Activities: It begins by being a member of one of our self-managed teams. Teams are a core part of our GMFS culture. Our teams meet on a regular basis and they will provide you with the support you need to counsel at-risk children and their families. Your services will begin primarily by going into people's homes to begin joining and building relationships with children and their families. With the intention of providing counseling services to families with children experiencing mental health concerns. You will then focus on helping and supporting the family and child with skills development and parenting education. If applying for Counselor, your services will be guided by one of our Licensed Therapist who will provide the families and child with a clinical diagnostic assessment and treatment plan development. That diagnostic assessment will help determine if there are mental health needs and provide recommendations of how to support and address those needs. Together with the child, family and the Greater Minnesota Therapist you will participate in the development of an individual treatment plan. That plan will guide and direct you and the family on the goals and objectives for your weekly service provision. This work will primarily take place in the home of the children and focus on addressing the mental health and emotional needs of the child and the family system as a whole.

Other activities will include case staffings in a team environment, training's and connecting with some of the other people/agencies (customers) in a human service system that we work in. We encourage people to be active in the community. Documentation of your services is very important. However GMFS uses an advance electronic record system that make this part of the job go very well. Finally, because we really like to focus on the family system and meet them where they are at, we ask that you plan for some non-traditional hours, afternoons and early evenings (4-5).
