ReDiscover has an opening for a Counselor Technician to work full-time (40 hours a week), Monday through Thursday from 7:30am to 5:30 pm, at our Coed Residential Substance Use Disorder program in Lee's Summit and Kansas City, MO.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Under the general direction of the Counselor Tech Supervisor or Team Leader, the Counselor Technician performs job after receiving general instructions. The Counselor Technician will provide high-quality, patient-centered clinical care and communicate effectively with the client/family and the interdisciplinary team.

This role requires proactive multitasking and coordination. The Counselor Technician must embrace ReDiscovers aspirational culture of respect, excellence-focused, dedication, inclusion, strategic, compassionate, optimistic, visionary, engaging and recovery-driven.

Clinical services shall be provided following the policies and procedures of ReDiscover and the contractual requirements of the State of Missouri, Department of Mental Health, Division of Alcohol and Drug Abuse.

Responsibilities:

Strategy & Planning

  • Monitoring clients in a safe environment, performing and documenting client safety rounds.
  • We are maintaining the cleanliness of the program space.
  • Administrative duties include but are not limited to: taking inventory of client property, laundry, and office supplies.
  • They facilitate structured activities with clients following their goals and treatment plan.
  • May obtain vital signs and assist with meals and preparation as needed.
  • May perform same-sex urine drug screens and pregnancy tests as needed.
  • Demonstrates culturally competent respect for all clients and guests through verbal and non-verbal behaviors and assists them as needed.
  • Safeguards Protected Health Information written and electronically and maintains confidentiality.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Operational Management

  • Counselor Technicians will work with clients in a one-on-one or group setting in an office, residential facility, or client's place of residence.
  • Good written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Acts with integrity by observing ReDiscover policy/procedures, accreditation standards, laws, and ethics.
  • Supports the strategic goals and mission/vision/values of ReDiscover when interacting with clients, co-workers and community stakeholders.
  • Contributes to the mission of ReDiscover by adjusting work priorities and duties as needed to meet unforeseen demands.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Formal Education & Certification

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Knowledge & Experience
  • A valid automobile operator's license is required. As applicable to the program needs, individuals may be required to obtain a Class E driver's license in Missouri.
  • Requires basic to Intermediate computer skills in typing/keyboarding, Microsoft Word and Excel programs, as well as G-Suite.

Work Conditions

  • Schedule and location of work are based on the needs of the program. This would include, but not limited to, evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to lift up to 20lbs with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects.
  • Prolonged period of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other computer components.
  • The work also requires the following physical abilities to perform the essential job functions: hearing, mental acuity, speaking, driving (as required), walking and visual acuity.
